From the phone’s setting
It would be to your surprise that this method has been integrated into your android smartphone for a long time and is very simple to use as well. Google added this feature after Android 8.0 Oreo and most of the devices in the market will be running it or above. So here is how you can do it.
Step 1 – Open Settings.
Step 2 – Open Apps & Notifications (or similar settings depending on the smartphone you are using).
Step 3 – Select the application you want to set the notification for.
Step 4 – In the setting select Notification Option.
Step 5 – There will be different notification options to choose from. Choose accordingly.
Step 6 – Tap on the “Sound” option to change the notification sound.
Follow the same steps for each application to setup custom notification for each one of them.

In-app setting
Applications have started to include this setting natively. The below method is just an example of how to do it. Following these steps in any other different application will produce the same results.
Step 1 – Open the desired application you want to change notification of.
Step 2 – Head to the application’s setting to find out Notification(or similar setting).
Step 3 – Select from different options you want to change the sound for.
Step 4 – Change the notification sound accordingly for each setting you wish.
Go to different applications and change the setting of each to get different notification sounds.

Using third party application

Step 1 – Head to the Play Store and install the ZEDGE application.

Step 3 – Select the notification option.
Step 4 – There will be a lot of tunes available to download.
Step 5 – Select the tune accordingly and press the download option.
Step 6 – After the download button is pressed there will be options to set the tone as notification, ringtone or alarm. Choose the notification and you are good to go.

The application is free mostly, but to get some extra premium wallpapers and ringtones users can pay a small monthly or annual fee to support the developers.
