OnePlus phones become more secure, announces 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security patches for its smartphones

It is assuring for the customers when a company releases white papers, boosting confidence that their beloved smartphone is and will be secured at least for 3 years. Google releases security patches for Android every now and then, but phone companies don’t really end up pushing them out to the manufactured handsets on time. This becomes a problem as the device is vulnerable to attacks and hackers. All of us keep some sort of sensitive information on the smartphones, weather it is the ATM pin or just images.

OnePlus has become more transparent in its approach and has sent out a release stating that they will provide 2 years of software updates for its devices. That is not it, all the devices will be under a 3-year security patch program. This is good news for all OnePlus users (OnePlus 3) onwards, their smartphone will stay up to date and secure.

OnePlus is one of the fastest security patch and update provider for its smartphones, next to Nokia. There are companies like Samsung and Xiaomi who end up delaying things and take a long time to release patches which makes their smartphones more prone to attacks and hacks.

In a statement OnePlus has said, “In order to provide our community with best in class software maintenance and upgrade cycle, we are officially announcing OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule.”

They further added, “As per the maintenance schedule, there will be 2 years of regular software updates from the release date of the phone (release dates of T variants would be considered), including new features, Android versions, Android security patches and bug fixes and an additional year of Android security patch updates every 2 months.”

OnePlus confirmed the schedule applies to all OnePlus 3/3T, OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 6 devices. This is a great move by company as they have become more transparent in their tactic. The updates will be provided over the air (OTA) on all the above handsets.

  1. I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy that I stumbled across this during
my hunt for something concerning this.
