What’s new on macOS Tahoe 26?

Apple’s new ‘Liquid Glass’ design language brings a layered aesthetic to macOS Tahoe 26. Its translucent effect makes it reflect and refract its surroundings. This design language can be seen in the Dock, sidebars, toolbars, app icons, folders, widgets and more elements. The menu bar is completely transparent and can be further customised from the Control Center. Users can also change the colours of the folders and assign them emojis to make them stand out.

What’s new on macOS Tahoe 26?

The Continuity features on macOS 26 get a big upgrade. The OS marks the debut of the Phone app on the platform. It will relay the calls from the user’s iPhone to their Mac. It’ll also allow the user to go through their contacts, recent calls, and voicemails. New iOS 26 features like Call Screening and Hold Assist will also be present on the Phone app for macOS 26. Live Activities will now appear on the menu. Once an activity is selected, it’ll open in iPhone Mirroring.

Spotlight gets its biggest update to date on macOS 26. When a search query is entered, Spotlight intelligently ranks all results, including files, folders, events, apps, messages, and more, based on their relevance to the user. There are filtering options to narrow down the search. Spotlight can also look into the user’s third-party cloud drives. Additionally, users can take in-app actions directly from Spotlight. This includes native and third-party apps. Lastly, Spotlight can recognise shortened strings, which saves the hassle of typing an entire keyword. For example, instead of typing ‘add reminder’, users can simply enter ‘ar’.

What’s new on macOS Tahoe 26?

Apple Intelligence gets a boost in macOS 26. The Shorcuts app can access AI features like Writing Tools and Image Playground. Live Translation is now supported by Messages and FaceTime. Users can also customise the personal attributes in Genmoji and Image Playground. Reminders are intelligently categorised into sections to make them more manageable.

WWDC 2025: Apple unveils watchOS 26 with Liquid Glass design

Apple has unveiled the new watchOS 26 at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2025. The OS will debut on the Apple Watch Series 11 at the tech giant’s fall event later this year. Following its debut, it will be rolled out on eligible devices. watchOS 26 incorporates Apple’s new ‘Liquid Glass’ design language. The new nomenclature brings uniformity across all Apple devices.

What’s new on watchOS 26?

The new ‘Liquid Glass’ design language brings a new look to the watchOS 26. Its translucent material reflects and refracts its surroundings, giving the content more room on the screen. It is integrated into Smart Stack widgets, Smart Stack hints, notifications, Control Center, and in-app controls and navigation. The numerals in the Photos watch face will showcase the translucent design as well.

What’s new on watchOS 26?

The Workout app on watchOS 26 has been updated with Workout Buddy – an Apple Intelligence feature that analyses the user’s workout data and fitness history to generate motivational insights tailored to their workout session. It also keeps track of the workout metrics and reminds the user of key stats and milestones. The stats are recapped at the end of the session. Workout Buddy requires an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone nearby. It will be available in popular workout types like Outdoor and Indoor Run, Outdoor and Indoor Walk, Outdoor Cycle, HIIT, and Functional and Traditional Strength Training.

The layout of the Workout app has been tweaked to make its features more accessible. Users can now access custom workouts and set up Apple Music on the main page of the app. Based on the workout type, Apple Music can select the relevant playlist. It also recommends playlists and podcasts based on the user’s listening history in that workout type.

The Smart Stack helps users access key information directly on the watch face. It now incorporates the Liquid Glass design. Apple has also improved its prediction algorithms by incorporating more contextual data, sensor data, and data from a user’s routine. This makes the Smart Stacks hints more useful and relevant to the user’s current status.

In line with iOS 26, the watchOS 26 gets Live Translation in the Messages app. This feature requires an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone. The incoming texts are automatically translated into the user’s preferred language. The texts sent by the user are also translated for the receiver. Live Translation will be made available on Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

watchOS 26 makes notifications easier to manage. If the user is tied up in other tasks, they can simply flick their wrist to dismiss any incoming notification. It can also be used to dismiss incoming calls and silence timers and alarms. The wrist movement is analysed by a machine learning model using the data from the accelerometer and the gyroscope.

Final Thoughts

Other additions to the watchOS include the Notes app, Live Listen (for users with hearing disabilities), Hold Assist and Call Screening, and a redesigned watch face gallery. visionOS 26 Unveiled: Your Room Just Got Smarter (and Slightly Spookier)

Spatial computing enthusiasts, brace yourselves: visionOS 26 is here, transforming how we interact with digital spaces through the Apple Vision Pro. Widgets Gone Wild

Widgets have always been handy, but visionOS 26 elevates their game. Now, your favourite Clock, Weather, Music, and Photos widgets aren’t merely displayed—they’re spatially anchored, persistently floating around your living space. Digital Doppelgängers Get Real

The somewhat uncanny Personas of past versions now look alarmingly lifelike, thanks to volumetric rendering and machine learning magic. These digital avatars, capturing everything from your hair’s texture to your side profile, promise to make virtual interactions eerily authentic. Setting up your Persona now includes previewing spatial appearances and selecting from over 1,000 pairs of digital glasses—good luck making that choice quickly.

Immersive Experiences & Enhanced Connections

visionOS 26 broadens content compatibility to embrace 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide-view media from Insta360, GoPro, and Canon. Whether watching extreme sports videos or navigating real estate listings via Zillow’s immersive app, spatial scenes offer unprecedented realism, making standard photos feel distinctly last decade.

Social butterflies will appreciate the new shared spatial experiences, enabling friends and coworkers to watch movies, play games, or collaborate within the same room. Dassault Systèmes’ 3DLive app even facilitates real-time visualization of 3D designs, helping you pretend to know exactly what your engineering friends are talking about.

Browsing, Gaming, and Enterprise: Covered

Web browsing enters the third dimension, with Safari supporting embedded 3D models—perfect for compulsive online shoppers. Gaming also takes a leap forward, now supporting PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. Expect intense, finger-sensitive gameplay with enough vibration feedback to keep you wide awake.

Final Thoughts

While the idea of widgets floating around your head or digital Personas mimicking your every move sounds both exciting and slightly creepy, visionOS 26 undeniably marks a leap forward in spatial computing. This update isn’t just about adding flashy new features—it’s about fundamentally reshaping digital interaction. Time will tell if we’re ready to embrace this brave new spatial world, or if floating widgets will send us running back to reality.

Noise Buds F1 Review: A no-nonsense TWS at a very affordable price

Noise’s latest budget TWS offering cuts the bells and whistles to focus on the essentials – a comfortable form factor and an enjoyable soundstage. The Buds F1 are priced at Rs 1,099. A few years ago, you’d be hard pressed to find a good pair of wireless earbuds in this price bracket. However, the rise of audio tech outfits like Noise, Truke, and boAt has rejuvenated the segment with exciting products that perform way above their pay grade. We used the Noise Buds F1 for a week, here is our review of the TWS.

Noise Buds F1 Review: Design

Here’s what you get inside the Noise Buds F1’s retail package:

  • Charging case with earbuds inside
  • USB Type-A to Type-C cable
  • Extra eartips (S and L sizes)
  • Free voucher from BookMyShow
  • Stickers
  • User manual and warranty registration booklet

The plastic charging case of the Noise Buds F1 has a matte finish, which gives it a nice in-hand feel. In contrast, its sides are glossy. The build quality is decent, and the case does not flex upon being pressed. The hinge does not inspire a lot of confidence in its strength, but it did not present any problems during the review period.

Noise Buds F1 Review: Design

The notch below the lid makes it easy to pop open the case. A small LED notification light is placed below this notch. The USB Type-C charging port lies on the right edge of the case. The ‘Noise’ lettering is engraved on top of the lid. The case is compact and slides easily into small pockets. However, it can register minor scratches if you stash it alongside keys and loose change.

design

The earbuds follow the traditional in-ear design language. They are optimised to fit most ear sizes. There are 2 pairs of extra eartips, in small and large sizes, inside the retail box. We found the fit to be snug and comfortable. We did not experience ear fatigue after wearing these earbuds for multiple hours.

design

The stems of the earbuds have a matte finish while the inside panels are glossy. The upper ends of the stems are touch-sensitive. The touch-sensitive panels have a glossy finish, as it makes them easier to spot with your fingers. Inside either panel is a small LED indicator that starts blinking red when the battery hits a low threshold. The touch controls are tuned nicely, and accidental triggers are very rare.

Noise Buds F1 Review: Design

The Noise Buds F1 is rated IPX5 for dust and water resistance. We wore the earbuds while working out and were pleased to see that their performance remained unaffected by excessive sweat. However, the fit suffered when the glossy inner panels came in contact with sweat.

Noise Buds F1 Review: Performance

The Noise Buds F1 use 11mm drivers to deliver the audio output. There’s support for Bluetooth 5.3 onboard. Pairing the earbuds to a smartphone is a seamless process, despite the lack of Google Fast Pair. The handy pairing button puts the TWS in discovery mode after a single press. There’s one audio codec on offer – SBC.

Noise Buds F1’s soundstage is surprisingly good for a budget TWS. The balanced output is a nice respite from the bass-driven sound profiles that dominate this segment. While the low-end frequencies enjoy ample representation in the soundstage, they don’t cloud over the mid and the highs. The audio output is a little boxy, but that’s something to be expected from every TWS in this price bracket.

Noise Buds F1 Review: Performance

We played a wide range of genres on the Noise Buds F1. The earbuds did justice to the crunching hard rock guitar riffs and glossy bubblegum pop basslines. However, pushing the volume past the 80% mark distorted the output by a significant factor. The lack of detail was very noticeable.

The calling experience on Noise Buds F1 is pretty standard. The quad mic setup does a passable job of suppressing the background noise and relaying the speaker’s voice to the other end. The sound quality is boxy and lacks details. If you’re taking a call indoors, these earbuds will do a good job. However, in outdoor conditions, we recommend sticking to your phone’s microphone.

performance

Our biggest complaint with the Noise Buds F1 TWS is that it doesn’t have a companion app. This means that you cannot remap the touch controls or customise the equaliser. Features like active noise cancellation, in-ear detection, and multi-device connection are also missing from these earbuds. However, it does get a handy low-latency mode for gaming. This mode can be triggered by double-tapping and holding either earbud. The gameplay experience in low-latency mode is smooth and lag-free.

During the week-long review period, we used the Noise Buds F1 for an average of 2 hours per day. The earbuds offer a playtime of up to 8 hours on a single charge. The charging case offers an additional 42 hours. We weren’t able to exhaust the battery after a week of use. The downside of not having a companion app is that there’s no way to tell the battery level of the charging case. The only indicator of a low battery status is the LED notification light. A quick 10-minute charge offers 150 minutes of playtime.

Verdict

The Noise Buds F1 is a no-nonsense TWS. Its soundstage punches above its weight and is comparable to earbuds priced twice as high. If you’re not fond of excessive bass notes, then you’ll like what this TWS has to offer. The ergonomic design of the earbuds offers a comfortable fit, and the sturdy charging case is built for rugged, everyday use. The 50-hour battery life is an added bonus. The lack of a companion app limits customisations, but it is a tradeoff we’re willing to make. For Rs 1,099, there aren’t many wireless earbuds in the market that can replicate the performance of the Noise Buds F1.

Pros

  • Relatively balanced audio output
  • Comfortable fit
  • Low-latency mode
  • Affordable

Cons

  • No companion app

WWDC 2025: Here is what to expect from today’s Apple Developers Conference

At the upcoming WWDC 2025 keynote event today, Apple will be announcing the operating system updates that will be available for its devices. A new interface and updated software interfaces for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch are among the design and productivity enhancements for Apple’s operating systems that will be on display at the Developers Conference. Apple will talk about its AI strategy, which includes letting other developers utilise its language models.

At WWDC 2025, a five-day developer conference, Apple is expected to make important software-related announcements today. In India, the WWDC 2025 event will start at 10:30 p.m. IST or 10 a.m. PT. The company’s YouTube channel will broadcast the event, while the Apple Developer app, website, and Apple TV app will all offer online access to the keynote and any follow-up sessions.

At WWDC25, the following AI and software-related upgrades are anticipated to be released:

Usually, the WWDC25 event includes announcements for many devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and macOS. The event last year concentrated on AI elements, dubbed Apple Intelligence, which were introduced gradually.

Mark Gurman claims that as part of a complete redesign, Apple will release iOS 26, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, macOS 26, and watchOS 26 in 2026. The internal names of the operating systems will be Nepali, Luck, Charisma, Discovery, and Cheer, in that order. The company’s software branding will also shift from version numbers to a year-based scheme as a result of the switch. The year when the new operating systems were released will be the basis for their names.

The firm is likely to launch its venerable Preview app for iPadOS and iOS for the first time on macOS.

A new interface called Solarium, built on visionOS, will be unveiled by Apple for all of its operating systems, including CarPlay. Digital glass, more light and transparency, and revamped app buttons and icons are all components of the new interface. The new interface is reflected in the revamped widgets for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Three iOS and iPadOS applications—the Phone, Safari, and Camera apps—are scheduled for major updates, but the core programs won’t be changed beyond their designs. Safari will get a more transparent address bar, Camera will prioritise simplicity, and the Phone app will merge voicemails, recent calls, and favourite contacts into a single, scrollable pane.

With the introduction of iPad improvements for office work and the potential for third-party developers to utilise its extensive language models, Apple is expected to introduce its Apple Intelligence AI plan.

It is anticipated that Apple will launch new AI capabilities, such as an enhanced Shortcuts app, a system-wide push into translation, and the availability of its foundation models. A new version of Xcode that uses third-party Language Models (LLMs) for code completion is also being developed by the business.

In addition, the company is working on a redesigned Calendar app, a rescheduled Siri update, and a battery optimisation option for iPhones. Additionally, Apple is working on a complete redesign of its Health app that is connected to Mulberry, an AI doctor-based service.

Google Chrome achieved the highest score ever on Speedometer 3

The tech giant Google claims that Chrome has scored the highest on the Speedometer 3 test ever. The test evaluates the performance of browsers, and those built on Google’s open-source browser engine perform the best. The performance of Chrome has increased by 10% since August 2024. Google’s version of the benchmarking tool has been superseded by Speedometer 3.1, the most recent version.

The blog post said, “Today’s The Fast and the Curious post explores how Chrome achieved the highest score on the new Speedometer 3.0, an upgraded browser benchmarking tool to optimise the performance of Web applications.”

Google claims that by analysing Chrome‘s performance over time, it optimised it to obtain the highest Speedometer 3 score. The company has contributed to a 72% rise in Chrome’s Speedometer score since the benchmark’s launch in May 2022, which has improved user performance.

For those who don’t know, Google, Apple, Mozilla, Intel, and Microsoft collaborated to create Speedometer 3.0, a browser measurement tool, with the goal of making Chrome quicker for users.

To increase Chrome’s score, specific optimisations were implemented after analysing Chrome’s workloads and the most time-consuming features. The SpaceSplitString method was optimised to eliminate redundant bound tests and duplicated stylesheets. Memory allocations were optimised to decrease drawing path and arc expenses. Additionally, superfluous processing was discovered when constructing form editors. Common selectors were discovered inside querySelector, resulting in the establishment of a hot path for common selectors. These optimisations resulted in increased Chrome’s overall performance.

Also Read: Nothing Phone 3 rear design teased ahead of July 1 launch event

The Chrome 137 stable version got 51.43 points in the Speedometer 3 benchmark test, while the beta and development versions earned 51.83 and 52.35 points, respectively, according to a company graph.

Google claims that it optimised innerHTML utilising fast paths for parsing, which was applied in WebKit and extended for a 1% increase in Speedometer 3. It also improved the way Chrome renders AAT fonts, such as those used in Apple Mac OS system fonts. Text is processed as a stream of Unicode characters, then converted into a glyph stream and sent via a state machine described in the AAT font. This optimisation enables it to identify glyph participation in the state machine rules, resulting in quicker processing times.

According to Thomas Nattestad, Chrome Product Manager, Speedometer 3 has witnessed a 3% increase in garbage collection improvements. V8’s garbage collector makes use of renderer idle time to avoid interference with application code. Recent enhancements expand existing techniques to prioritise garbage collection during idle time on active renderers, such as DOM finalisation code that runs when objects are reclaimed. This reduces competition between conventional application code and CPU resources. V8 now allows a more compact layout for objects that encapsulate DOM components, which reduces memory burden and garbage collection time.

What is Mind Space on OnePlus 13s? Here’s how you can use it

The new OnePlus 13s isn’t just an ordinary compact flagship smartphone. The smartphone marks the debut of 2 new OnePlus features. The first is the Plus key, which replaces the Alert Slider. Additionally, it gets a new AI tool called ‘Mind Space’. By default, the Plus key is programmed to capture the content on the screen and save it as a Memory in the Mind Space. So, what exactly is the Mind Space, and how does it change the way you interact with your OnePlus 13s? Let’s take a closer look.

What is Mind Space? The new OnePlus AI feature takes screenshots to the next level

The Google Pixel 9 Series kicked off the trend of using AI to categorise and label screenshots for easy access. Its standalone Screenshots app, while not perfect, was a step in the right direction. If you take a lot of screenshots, you can relate to the frustration that comes with having a cluttered Screenshots folder. On a Pixel, you can organise your screenshots into different collections and manage different projects simultaneously. Every screenshot is supplemented with an AI-generated meta description, which allows you to search for it easily.

essential
Essential Space on Nothing Phone (3a)

Earlier this year, Nothing unveiled its new Phone (3a) series with an ‘Essential’ key. This glossy button takes a screenshot and lets you add a voice note to it. You can even direct your phone to remind you to look up the screenshot later. The screenshots are saved in the ‘Essential Space’. Like Pixel’s Screenshot app, Nothing’s Essential Space uses AI to extract information from screenshots and create concise descriptions for them.

OnePlus’ Mind Space follows a similar path, but looks more polished and refined. When you press the Plus button, the smartphone records the content on the screen, analyses it, and tucks it away as a Memory in the Mind Space. The way Mind Space interacts with different apps makes it the real deal. Its understanding of the content on the screen is far greater than Google’s Screenshots app and Nothing’s Essential Space.

mind space
OnePlus Mind Space

After capturing the Memory of a bus ticket, we were impressed with how Mind Space analysed it and neatly laid out the date, timing, seat, fare, and other details. It also prompted us to create a reminder for the journey with just one tap. Capturing a WhatsApp conversation about flight timings and expected arrivals yielded a similar result.

The Memories in the Mind Space can be filtered by the apps in which they were captured. However, it does not let you create new projects or collections. On the bright side, the AI search tool works like a charm and responds very well to natural language input. Not only does it bring up the Memories associated with your query, but it also generates a natural language response containing the information you need. We asked the Mind Space about upcoming bus rides, and it accurately looked into the saved tickets and presented key data from the most relevant one.

Our Take

The OnePlus 13s will undoubtedly be our first choice if you’re searching for the compact yet most efficient flagship smartphone with superior performance, battery, quick charging, better cameras, and AI capabilities at a reasonable price.

You should definitely choose the Samsung Galaxy S25 if you intend to maintain the device for many years. OneUI and OxygenOS 15 both provide a simple, tidy, and customisable user interface.

What is the Plus key on OnePlus 13s? Here’s how you can customise it

0

OnePlus’s new compact flagship smartphone, 13s, makes one important change that distinguishes it from the rest of the series. The iconic Alert Slider has been replaced with a new Plus key on the smartphone. While this key can toggle the sound profile of your phone like the Alert Slider, it can also accomplish a range of other tasks. Let’s take a look at what the Plus key on the OnePlus 13s is, and how you can customise it.

What is the Plus key on OnePlus 13s?

The new Plus key on the OnePlus 13s is inspired by the iPhone’s Action button. The Plus key springs into action when you long-press it. A single press displays the programmed function as a Live Alert, but does not execute it. The only function that works upon single pressing the Plus key is the one that it is programmed to do out of the box – Mind Space. With a single press, the Mind Space reads the content on the screen and saves it as a Memory. The Plus key can be customised to execute seven other functions. However, compared to its Apple counterpart, these options are pretty limited. Here are all the functions that the Plus key can trigger.

Mind Space: Recognises the content on the screen and saves it as a Memory.

Sound & vibration: Switches the sound profile to ring, silent, or vibrate.

Do Not Disturb: Toggles DND on or off.

Camera: Can be customised to trigger one of the following functions of the Camera app – Photo, Portrait, Retouched selfie, Video, Pro mode.

Torch: Turns the LED flash on or off.

Recorder: Starts or ends an audio recording.

Translate: Can be customised to trigger one of the following functions of the Translate app – Text, Camera, Conversation, Live, Screen.

Screenshot: Captures the screen.

No action: Does nothing.

While this is a good set of programmable functions, the Plus key still has room for improvement. We’d love to see the option to trigger any third-party app on the phone added to Plus key’s arsenal. This would be all the more useful since OxygenOS does not let users customise the side button apart from the standard power menu/voice assistant controls.

Remap the Plus key on your OnePlus 13s

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Plus key.

Step 2: Tap on Plus key.

Step 3: Swipe left and right to go through the different functions.

Step 3: Swipe left and right to go through the different functions.

Step 4: Hit Set under a function to assign it to the Plus key.

Step 4: Hit Set under a function to assign it to the Plus key.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does the Plus key on the OnePlus 13s do?

By default, the Plus key is programmed to read the content on the screen and save it as a Memory in Mind Space. It can be customised to switch the sound profile, open the camera, enable DND, and more.

How do I customise the Plus key on my OnePlus phone?

Go to Settings>Plus key, swipe left until you land on the function you want to assign to the button, and hit ‘Set’.

Can I open a third-party app using the Plus key?

No, the Plus key does not let you launch third-party apps yet. Hopefully, this will be changed in a future update.

What does pressing the Plus key do?

Pressing the Plus key once displays the function assigned to it as a Live Alert. Long-pressing the key executes the function. However, if the key is customised to save the screen to Mind Space, a single press will do the job.

The Plus key can act as the shutter button in the Camera app, as long as it has been customised to launch the Camera app. If you’ve assigned any other function to the key, it won’t act as a shutter button.

Telegram update: Brings fresh new features like voice trimming, DM for channels and more

Telegram has rolled out new update, adding new features such as direct messages for channels, voice trimming, topic tabs, and high-quality images, which improve the user experience and allow for quick topic browsing and photo transmission.

Telegram Channels now enable users to send direct messages to owners and administrators, allowing for private conversations without disclosing personal information. Content creators can use this mode to engage with subscribers in a more simplified interface, apart from the owner’s personal conversations. To send a direct message, simply tap the message bubble on the channel’s bottom bar. To enable direct messages, enter the channel settings. Content creators might charge a fee for each direct message to facilitate more controlled interactions.

Telegram groups now have a new tab layout to make it easier to view chat lists and hop between conversations. Users can choose between a wider sidebar and a minimalist bar at the top of the conversation. You may enable topics in any group by going to Group Settings > Topics.

With the most recent Telegram update, voice messages may be cut by adjusting the start and finish points to remove the required portion. This option is available when you swipe up to lock the recording during the message. After cutting, you may record more parts by pressing the microphone icon. You may also pause and resume recording of voice and video messages.

Telegram now has a new quality option called ‘High Definition’ for sending high-quality photographs. This feature enables users to transmit full-resolution selfies and travel images with four times the pixels for less than 0.5 MB of data. To send an image in HD, users may either hit the SD button in the photo editor or choose ‘send In High Quality’ from the attachment menu.

Telegram Polls have been used by communities of all sizes to make decisions and schedule events. An update now allows for up to 12 options and the ability to save polls for future reference or share them with other chats.
