CERT-In alerts Chrome users of high-risk vulnerabilities: Details

Chrome includes vulnerabilities that might expose private data or cause system instability, according to CERT-In.

Google Chrome users have received a high-severity warning from the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) about attackers taking advantage of earlier browser versions. Users are urged to respond immediately to the notice. According to the warning, Google Chrome versions before 136.0.7103.113/.114 for Mac and Windows and 136.0.7103.113 for Linux have security flaws that hackers might take advantage of.

For some Chrome users on desktop platforms, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-security risk warning, pointing out several vulnerabilities that might let hackers execute arbitrary code on compromised devices. With one vulnerability already being actively exploited, remote attackers might take advantage of these problems and perhaps compromise the entire system.

CERT-In alerts users to vulnerabilities in Google Chrome versions, such as improper handling of Mojo, a component used for inter-process communication in Chromium-based browsers, and inadequate policy enforcement in the browser loader. Released on May 16, 2025, the vulnerability notice, CIVN-2025-0099, concerns Google Chrome versions before 136.0.7103.113/.114 for Windows and Mac and 136.0.7103.113 for Linux.

Due to flaws in Google Chrome, remote attackers may be able to take control of a user’s machine by executing arbitrary code. Sensitive information may be revealed, system integrity may be jeopardised, and spyware or malware may be installed. There is an immediate concern since attackers are already using one major flaw in real-world attacks.
