Google Photos has unveiled a 10-year anniversary upgrade, which includes a revamped editor and a QR code for relatively easy album sharing. The Magic Editor now shows picture information at the top of the image, and the editing buttons for aspect ratio and flip have been repositioned.
Google is commemorating Google Photos’ tenth anniversary with a collection of tips, tricks, and tools. The firm has released a new editor with AI-powered suggestions for quick tweaks and a new option to share albums instantaneously. The editor offers features such as Reimagine and Auto frame, as well as brightness and contrast settings. The AI-powered suggestions combine various effects for quick edits, and users may tap particular areas of a picture to receive editing tool recommendations. The upgrade will be available internationally on Android smartphones starting next month, with iOS coming later this year.

Users may now instantaneously share albums with QR codes, providing simple access to nearby photos or group events. Users may scan the code to see or upload photographs. Users may also retrace their journeys by selecting “Places” from the collections tab, where photographs are geographically marked on an interactive map, allowing an emotional walk down memory lane.
Google Photos enables users to search for certain keywords without having to worry about using proper keywords. To achieve the best results, name faces in the “People & Pets” category. Users may also relive nostalgic recollections with the “Best of Month” and “Year End Recap” features, which are ideal for sharing with friends and family.
Users may make a customised montage by hitting the “+” button, then selecting highlight video and memories. Photos are automatically combined into a short video with music. Shared albums allow you to remain in touch with long-distance relatives and friends by automatically adding fresh images of people and pets. Updates will be rolled into their app or photo frames, making it an excellent way to share pet images or virtually accompany loved ones on travels.

To customise your Google Photos feed, press the three-dot icon at the top of your gallery. You may stack similar images or hide screenshots, GIFs, and memes. Under Settings > Preferences > Memories, you can also choose between time-based and themed memories, as well as hide specific people, pets, or dates.
To free up space on your phone, hit your profile picture and then “Free up space on this device.” This will remove items that have previously been backed up to your Google Photos account, allowing you to access them at any time and freeing up space on your device.
