Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review: Slim Is In

Thin and light smartphones are making a comeback, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the perfect example.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is officially available in India and across the world, and Gadget Bridge gets the opportunity to test this unbelievably slim smartphone from the South Korean electronics giant. “Do you prefer a thin phone or longer battery life?” is the question that has been doing the rounds when it comes to the Galaxy S25 Edge. To know more, read the rest of our Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge review.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review: Design and Display

Several phone manufacturers have tried to create an ultrathin phone without sacrificing essential functionality, but Samsung is the only one that has succeeded in doing so.

After receiving Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, we couldn’t help but be impressed, which is not always the case with new smartphones. The ultra-thin smartphone from the firm is remarkably light and sleek. You can truly feel the difference when you hold the S25 Edge, even though it may not even appear that different.

When you put it side by side with the S25 Ultra, you can notice the difference. It is 30% slimmer, which is significant since customers who purchased its Ultra phones thought the device was too large and hefty, but they didn’t want to drop down to the Galaxy S25+ or S25 because they didn’t want to miss out on certain features.

Additionally, the term “Edge” refers to previous Samsung phones with curved displays and similar functionalities.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which has a 6.7-inch screen, is lighter and thinner than the iPhone 16. It weighs only 163 grams and is 5.8 mm thick, while the iPhone 16 weighs 170 grams and is 7.8 mm thick. But there is news that Apple will also be launching a slimmer iPhone Air this year in September. Nevertheless, that is a story for another time.

By employing thinner camera parts, Samsung was able to minimise the amount of space it takes up within the housing. They have placed thinner components overall, together with a thinner vapour chamber and mesh within.

Titanium Silver and Titanium Jet Black are the two colour choices available for the phone. For the review, we received the former.

It feels different to type, skim through content, answer calls, put it in our pocket, and hold it horizontally while playing a game. However, there are occasions when we will naturally be cautious while keeping it on a table or other hard surface since, deep down, it seems it’s extremely fragile and delicate. You can’t help but wonder, “Is it sturdy enough?” given how thin and light it is.

In order to create a lightweight design, the S25 Edge has a titanium frame and Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at the rear, which is comparable to the Ultra but without the anti-reflective coating.

The volume controls and power on/off button are located on the right side. When using the phone one-handed, the volume controls feel somewhat difficult to reach. The lower panel has a SIM card slot, a USB Type-C port, and a stereo speaker grille, while the top panel houses a microphone.

Furthermore, the display is protected by the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The phone is also IP68 water and dust resistant, so it appears to be rather durable on paper. The front panel features a virtually bezel-less display with a notch at the top centre that plays host to the selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sports a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,120 pixels. The screen has a customisable refresh rate of 120Hz (1-120Hz), a vision enhancer, and an adjustable colour tone.

It has almost the same display as the S25 Ultra, but slightly smaller and without the anti-reflective coating.  We do wish Samsung had supplied the same anti-reflective coating on this phone as it did on the S25 Ultra, especially given its price. It’s quite beneficial outdoors.

Review of Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

Galaxy S25 Edge has a sharp display, superb colour reproduction, and the ideal balance of brighter whites and deeper blacks. Because the vision booster is available, the contrast and colour saturations are well-adjusted in both sunny and dark conditions. Using it has been a delight due to the screen’s exceptional haptic feedback and touch sensitivity. The mobile comes with FHD plus resolution by default, but you may turn it up to QHD plus. Keep in mind that the battery may be exhausted considerably more quickly if you crank up the resolution.

Our experience with the S25 Edge is significantly enhanced by the exquisitely sophisticated haptic feedback that you receive as you type and unlock the phone.
As one might anticipate from a phone in the S25 flagship series, it is unquestionably flagship-level.

The in-display fingerprint sensor is very reliable, accurate, and fast.

In the Galaxy S25 Edge, a superb pair of stereo speakers is paired with an amazing screen. They are loud, clear, crisp, and balanced. Watching movies on OTT platforms and, especially, listening to music was a lot of fun.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review: Performance and Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which has the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, is another possible flagship Android device. Together with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 4.0 on-board storage, it’s one of the finest CPUs combo available. Software-wise, the S25 Edge is pre-installed with One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. Complementing the other S25 series, the company provides seven years of OS upgrades and security patches. It is a phone that is ready for the future.

Additionally, you receive all of the Galaxy AI features that were included with the S25 Ultra, including Gemini integration, which provides a wide range of functions, including Note Assist, Chat Assist, Now Brief, Now Bar, and multimodal AI capabilities. And they function quite well; there aren’t any problems at all. Gemini has significantly improved. Now, when you aim the camera at a book, it does read. It’s incredible how well native Samsung applications integrate with Google Gemini. Asking it to text XYZ to call us later in the evening has made it simple to even message someone. You can even use WhatsApp to accomplish the same thing. Over that, the camera also has AI capabilities.

Overall, the gadget responds quickly and can handle any work you put it through, even multitasking and the most draining games and applications. The phone performs wonderfully, with no delays or stutters in the animations.

Additionally, the gaming performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge is just amazing. Without any lag, even the most taxing games may be played at their highest settings. Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends were among the titles we played. Most importantly, it cools off a lot faster. And given the form factor, that’s not bad at all. Overall, Samsung appears to have done a respectable job of keeping it cool with the optimised vapour chamber, the extra graphite sheet, and the use of a proprietary cooling material. All of it in a super slim form factor.

Let’s finally discuss the cameras.

Review of Galaxy S25 Edge

The typical triple-camera layout used in recent years has been replaced by a dual-camera system on the Galaxy S25 Edge. The gadget has three cameras: a 12-megapixel ultrawide, a 12-megapixel selfie, and a 200-megapixel main. Notably, it lacks a telephoto lens, but it does include a 10X AI-enhanced zoom and a 2X optical zoom. The only plausible reason for this is that it would have resulted in a thicker phone, which would have gone against Samsung’s intended design.

A broader field of vision for selfies, autofocus, and macro mode for close-ups are all characteristics of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. It has a 200-megapixel primary camera that is essentially identical to the S25 Ultra.

The device’s main camera captures excellent images.  If you want a richer, brighter look from your pics, you will like the photos it takes. The camera has a great dynamic range. All of this is made possible by the Pro Visual Engine, which is diligently working in the background to achieve a true balance between the colours, exposure, and white balance.

Here are a few photos that were taken indoors, and they seem just as natural as if taken in broad daylight.

The ultra-wide sensor can also take sharp, detailed images with vibrant, vivid colours. It does a great job everywhere.

Now, let’s explore a few portraits. Beautiful portrait photos have a subject that is sharply focused and full of details. However, we saw that we appeared to have somewhat supple skin. That could even be pleasant to some of you. Saying that, there are no issues with backdrop blur or edge detection.

Review of Galaxy S25 Edge

S25 Edge’s exceptional ability to retain shadow and highlight details allows it to produce high-quality photographs in low light. Clear, beautifully detailed, and noise-free images are captured indoors. Additionally, we rarely use flash unless it is absolutely required in specific situations. In low light, the ultra-wide camera produced detailed photos.

Speaking of selfies, our skin’s hue and image quality were maintained by the S25 Edge. Here, a broader field of view is also an option. For taking selfies in low light, it has a night mode.

It can also record videos in 4K at 120 frames per second, which is not possible with the S25+ or S25. Additionally, it can shoot in log format for more editing flexibility. Furthermore, the selfie camera allows for more people because of its larger field of view.
Because it offers superb video stabilisation, this is definitely one of the finest options available if you enjoy vlogging.

Honourable mention: Fan favourites like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist are among the Galaxy AI-powered editing capabilities that the new phone has, just like the S25 range.

The slim Samsung S25 Edge phone has a 3,900 mAh battery, which is 100 mAh less than the smaller Galaxy S25. Considering other phones of the same size, this is a small battery capacity. The silicon-carbon battery technology, which provides denser battery cells in a smaller form, is not used by Samsung at the moment. All in all, we were able to squeeze just about 20 hours of battery life from this smartphone, which included calls, a little bit of gaming, social media browsing and WhatsApp exchanges.

Verdict

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge provides a new alternative for people who want large phones but don’t like their bulk and weight. It doesn’t have a third or fourth camera, but it does have an ultra-level 200-megapixel primary camera. Its battery life might not be as good as that of its contemporaries of a comparable size, but it would last you almost a day. We did encounter a few heating issues outdoors in the Hot Delhi climate. But it does cool down rather quickly once you are back indoors. Additionally, this phone will get seven years of software upgrades and can utilise all of the same S25 Ultra (Review)Galaxy AI capabilities.

Galaxy S25 Edge Review

Because of its overall excellent construction and design, we strongly recommend this phone.

In India, the price of Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge 12GB RAM with 256GB storage is set at Rs 1,09,999. Whereas the 12GB RAM with 512GB storage will come with a price tag of Rs 1,21,999.
