The latest foldable tablet has a wider screen with a new 21:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung finally unveiled its latest book-style foldable, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, on the global stage. The latest foldable features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and runs Android 16 with One UI 8 out of the box. The device packs a 4,400mAh battery. It comes with a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover display, a wider screen with a new 21:9 aspect ratio.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 flexes an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner screen with a resolution of 2,184×1,968 pixels, 368ppi, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (1~120Hz). For the cover screen, the foldable has a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2520 x 1080 pixels of resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio. The outer display also supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (1~120Hz) and 422ppi. In a folded state, it measures 72.8 x 158.4 x 8.9mm, and when unfolded, it measures 143.2 x 158.4 x 4.2mm. The device weighs about 215g. When it comes to sturdiness, the cover has Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection, while the back comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The handset is IP48 rated and it can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.

According to the firm, the Armor FlexHinge is now thinner and lighter, thanks to a water droplet design and a multi-rail structure that reduces visible creasing and enhances durability.

Under the hood, there is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage options. The processor is said to offer a performance boost of 41% in NPU, 38% in CPU, and 26% in GPU compared to the previous generation. Android 16-based One UI 8 comes preloaded.

The Samsung’s flagship foldable phone features a triple outer camera setup that includes a 200MP Wide-angle Camera (Quad Pixel AF, OIS, F1.7, Pixel size: 0.6μm, FOV: 85˚), a 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera (Dual Pixel AF, F2.2, Pixel size: 1.4μm, FOV: 120˚) and a 10MP Telephoto Camera (PDAF, OIS, F2.4, Pixel size: 1.0μm, FOV: 36˚, 3X optical zoom). On the cover, it has a 10MP Selfie Camera (F2.2, Pixel size: 1.12μm, FOV: 85˚).

Samsung’s next-generation ProVisual Engine enhances image processing speed, resulting in crisper, vibrant, and detailed photos and videos. Night Video uses intelligent motion detection to separate moving subjects from still backgrounds, while 10-bit HDR provides richer colour, deeper contrast, and lifelike detail in videos, regardless of the time of day.

Galaxy’s Photo Assist and Portrait Studio enhance photos with AI-powered precision, allowing users to capture vibrant expressions and refine their photos. Generative Edit, a fan favourite, now offers proactive suggestions with the new Suggest Erases feature.

Side-by-Side Editing and Show Original enable real-time comparison of original images and edited versions, making it easier to decide what to modify and what to keep. The Audio Eraser has been upgraded to be more intelligent and convenient, with a new toggle in the Gallery that proactively detects and removes unwanted background noise from video recordings.

The phone comes with a 4,400mAh (typical) dual battery that supports 25W charging. According to the company, the phone can be charged up to 50 per cent in around 30 minutes.

When it comes to connectivity, there is 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth v5.4. Sensors onboard include a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor and a light sensor. This foldable phone can accommodate up to two Nano SIM and Multi eSIM.
