Our Take

Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Vivo X Fold 5’s main and cover screens feature brighter displays (with a peak brightness of 4500 nits), which may enhance visibility outdoors.

Both the Vivo X Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are flagship phones with the newest CPUs. While the X Fold 5 utilises the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Z Fold 7 employs a specially designed “Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy” chipset. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite may have a minor performance advantage because it is effectively an optimised Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

The Vivo X Fold 5 boasts three 50MP sensors that were co-engineered with ZEISS, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 sports a 200MP primary rear camera. Vivo’s dual 20MP front cameras and better telephoto and ultrawide lenses highlight its adaptable camera capabilities.
For heavy users, the Vivo X Fold 5 offers a substantial edge over the Z Fold 7 due to its bigger 6000mAh battery and quicker wired and wireless charging capabilities.

So, which one to choose?

The functionality and performance of both smartphones are superb. However, if Samsung sticks to its premium foldable segment pricing plan, the Vivo X Fold 5 is a tough competitor in India for its competitive pricing.
