Sony’s new full-frame FX2 Cinema Line camera for solo creators and students launched in India

The camera is ideal for solo shooters due to its compact form factor and easy control, and its optional XLR handle supports various production styles.

Sony India has introduced the FX2 Cinema Line camera, a full-frame camera intended for solo creators and students. The camera has a 33MP Full-Frame Back-Illuminated CMOS Sensor, up to QFHD 4K 60p (S35mm), 15+ Stop Wide Latitude, and Dual Base ISO, resulting in excellent image quality even in challenging lighting circumstances. It also includes 16 User LUTs for real-time previews of creative looks in production. The camera includes the S-Cinetone function, which matches the tone of Sony’s top VENICE cameras. The camera also has Slow & Quick Motion, a 4:2:2 10-bit recording cinema look, Log Shooting Mode, a Tiltable 3.68M-dot EVF, and a distinctive BIG6 (Home) screen.

The Sony FX2 is a high-performance Cinema Line camera featuring a full-frame 33.0MP black-illuminated CMOS sensor and a resolution of up to QFHD 4K 60p. It has BIONZ XR image processing and an AI processing unit for high-quality detail capture. The camera has a large dynamic range of 15+ stops, dual base ISO (800/4000), and enhanced sensitivity up to ISO 102400, guaranteeing high-quality cinematic footage even in tough lighting conditions. It also has 16 user LUTs for real-time preview of creative looks throughout production, giving cinematographers and directors of photography control over the final look.

The FX2 camera uses Sony’s S-Cinetone colour technology, which matches the distinctive tone of its premium VENICE cameras. This tool enables DOPs to make colour adjustments during the shooting process. The camera also includes a Slow & Quick Motion mode, which allows users to record at up to 60 fps in 4K and 120 fps in Full HD for dramatic slow-motion effects, increasing narrative and creative freedom.

The new Sony camera captures 4K video in 4:2:2 10-bit, resulting in outstanding resolution and tonal range. It also has a Log Shooting Mode for stills and a Tiltable 3.68M-dot EVF for hybrid use. The Log Shooting Mode allows users to take still images with up to 33MP quality for post-production colour grading. The Tiltable high-definition EVF adjusts to every shooting environment, allowing users to capture dramatic photos.

The FX2 has a one-of-a-kind BIG6 (Home) Screen that allows you to quickly access six important shooting parameters on a single page in Movie mode. This tool enables filmmakers to easily monitor and alter key variables, increasing efficiency and on-set production without browsing complex menus. The FX2’s ergonomic design is geared for solitary photographers, with a compact, lightweight body style and easy control arrangement similar to Sony’s FX3 and FX30 cameras. The FX2 also has an optional XLR handle for advanced audio and numerous Sony applications, making it suitable for any production style or necessity.

The FX2 Full-Frame Cinema Line camera will be available in India from September 11th, 2025, at Sony Authorised Retail Outlets, Sony Camera Lounge, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony Center, ShopatSC.com portal, major electronic stores, and ecommerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart.
