Gemini-powered Nest Cams and a Doorbell
To make the most of Gemini’s intelligence, the new wired devices—the Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), and Nest Doorbell (3rd gen)—were developed as true AI cameras that can comprehend and understand their surroundings. These cameras use powerful multimodal AI to provide rich, detailed data, resulting in faster warnings and simpler identification of significant moments. Notably, they deliver outstanding image quality with 2K HDR footage, the best resolution available, which improves the AI’s ability to interpret complicated semantic situations. Furthermore, DXOMARK’s independent testing ranked all three models as the best in their class for image quality.
The new Nest Cams and wired Nest Doorbell have the largest and highest field of vision to date. The Nest Cams provide a 152-degree diagonal vision, which allows for extensive surveillance of large areas such as yards or driveways. With its unique 1:1 aspect ratio, the Doorbell provides a 166-degree diagonal vision, allowing users to see parcels on the ground, as well as large entryways and complete views of guests. A comparison to the previous generation wired Doorbell demonstrates the development, with a focus on improved viewing capabilities.
The improved low-light performance of the new cameras provides for better colour and detail thanks to a new sensor and larger aperture, which increases light sensitivity. This improvement allows the cameras to stay in full-colour mode longer during dawn and dusk while still providing high-powered infrared night vision for total blackout visibility. The improved hardware includes enhanced Gemini for Home features: notifications highlight situations such as “dog jumps out of playpen,” and video footage is zoomed in. Users may use the Ask Home capability to search video history by querying certain events, obtaining descriptions, and seeing related videos. Additionally, Home Brief breaks down hours of video into succinct overviews, making it easy to catch up on significant occurrences.

The new cameras provide a variety of useful features that do not require a subscription. Users may digitally zoom and crop their camera view to focus on certain regions, such as a garden or sidewalk, while still capturing high-quality images in live feeds and video history. Furthermore, zoomed-in animated previews will be embedded into alerts, allowing users to see what caused an event, such as recognising persons or vehicles immediately from the lock screen. The cameras have intelligent alerts to distinguish between humans, cars, and animals, while the Doorbell notifies users of parcels. Furthermore, the video history has been enhanced from three to six hours, allowing users to examine missed notifications using 10-second event clips rather than text logs.
The new Nest Cam and Doorbell will be available on October 1st, priced at $99.99 for the indoor version and $149.99 for the outdoor version, with a two-pack option for $249. These gadgets will be available in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The Nest Doorbell is $179.99 and only available in the United States and Canada. The Gemini for Home capabilities will be rolled out to these devices in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia, with further territories projected to receive upgrades by early 2026.
Google Home Speaker
The new Google Home Speaker was designed exclusively for the Gemini for Home system, concentrating on more natural conversation flows. It uses customised processing to take use of Gemini’s powerful AI, resulting in quicker and more fluid interactions. A new light ring provides expressive visual input via a dynamic glow, showing whether Gemini is listening, thinking, reasoning, reacting, or engaged in Gemini Live mode. In addition, intuitive controls allow users to effortlessly adjust speaker volume or pause interactions.

The Google Home Speaker provides 360° audio, guaranteeing even sound distribution regardless of its location in the room. A major new feature enables the connection of two speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create an immersive home theater experience with surround sound. It keeps previous features including multi-room music grouping and stereo pairing. The speaker also incorporates a physical microphone mute option for further privacy. Its design is small and comes in four colors: porcelain, hazel, jade, and berry. The speaker is also eco-friendly, built from recycled materials and created using a revolutionary 3D knitting process that reduces fabric waste.
Gemini for Home will be released to current Google Home speakers and smart displays as part of an early access program at the end of October. The next Google Home Speaker will be available in Spring 2026 and will cost $99.99. It will be offered in a number of countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
