Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold with Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy announced: Details Inside

The device is expected to go on sale in South Korea later this month.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first twice-folding smartphone with a 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display and a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ cover display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite CPU. The gadget features a triple back camera unit, as well as a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery system positioned in each of the device’s three panels for balanced power distribution and all-day endurance.

Pricing and Availability Details

Pricing information has not yet been revealed. The Galaxy Z TriFold is slated to be on sale in South Korea on December 12. Following its initial introduction, the company says it will be available in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States in a single Crafted Black colour. The TriFold will be available in these countries at select offline retail shops, allowing buyers to try it out firsthand.

Specifications, Features

The Galaxy Z TriFold has a titanium hinge housing made of advanced armour aluminium, two different-sized hinges, and a dual-rail construction for better stability and smooth rotations. The hinge design allows the displays to fit together securely with a little gap while maintaining a slim profile.

On the front, the gadget has a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with a resolution of 1,080×2,520 pixels. It has a 21:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 422 per inch (ppi). It can also show 100% of the DCI-P3 colour spectrum, which improves colour accuracy. The display can achieve peak brightness levels of up to 2,600 nits and has an adjustable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, resulting in smooth visual performance. 

It features an impressive 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2,160×1,584 pixels and a pixel density of 269 ppi. The display has a stunning peak brightness of up to 1600 nits and an adjustable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, which improves the visual experience. Furthermore, the interior display supports the whole 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut, delivering rich and accurate colour reproduction.

In terms of durability, the cover display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the rear panel is made of ceramic-glass fibre-reinforced polymer for further durability. In addition, the gadget has an IP48 rating, signifying resistance to dust and water intrusion.

It is equipped with Qualcomm’s octa-core 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy CPU, 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. It is a dual-SIM foldable smartphone running Android 16 with One UI 8.

The foldable phone comes with an advanced triple rear camera configuration. This device has a 200-megapixel primary camera (f/1.7) with optical image stabilisation (OIS), which ensures clean and clear photographs even in low-light circumstances. This high-resolution camera is accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2) with a 102-degree field of view, making it perfect for photographing broad landscapes or groups. In addition, the arrangement features a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (f/2.4) with OIS and up to 30x digital zoom, allowing for detailed photos from a distance. On the front, the smartphone has two 10-megapixel selfie cameras (f/2.2) on both the cover and inner screens, allowing for high-quality self-portraits and video calls.

The phone has a large 5,600mAh battery that allows for quick charging at 45W via wired connections and 15W wirelessly. It supports 5G and 4G LTE networks, as well as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and includes a USB Type-C connector for multiple connections. The device includes a number of sensors that improve its functionality, including a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor for security, an accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor, which provide a comprehensive suite of environmental and motion detection features.
