OPPO A6x 5G launches in India with 6500mAh battery at Rs 12,499

Big battery, fast charging and a 120Hz display aim to make OPPO’s latest A series phone the new all-day workhorse for budget 5G buyers.

OPPO has launched the A6x 5G in India, positioning it as a dependable daily driver that leans hard on battery life, smooth performance and accessible pricing. With the OPPO A6x 5G price starting at Rs 12,499 and a 6500mAh battery paired with 45W fast charging, this one clearly wants to be the phone that refuses to die before your day does. Add a 120Hz display, IP64 rating and ColorOS fluency tricks, and OPPO is pitching it as a value-first 5G all-rounder for students, gig workers and anyone who lives on mobile data.

OPPO is keeping things straightforward with three RAM and storage options:

  • 4GB + 64GB: Rs 12,499

  • 4GB + 128GB: Rs 13,499

  • 6GB + 128GB: Rs 14,999

The phone is available in two finishes, Ice Blue and Olive Green, and will be sold via major online marketplaces, OPPO’s own store and mainline retail partners across India. Buyers also get the sweetener of up to three months of no-cost EMI on select bank cards, which helps keep the upfront hit manageable for budget-conscious users.

For a sub-15k budget 5G smartphone, Indian buyers care most about three things: battery, display and basic performance. OPPO has clearly built the A6x 5G spec sheet around exactly that checklist.

Design and display: functional, modern and bright

The OPPO A6x 5G does not chase ultra-slim glamour, but it does look tidy and modern. It weighs around 212 grams and measures 8.58 mm thick, so it feels solid without being brick-like. The unibody-style frame and Deco camera module give it a clean, slightly more premium vibe than many plasticky budget phones.

On the front is a 6.75-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness goes up to 1125 nits, which should help with outdoor visibility in Indian sunlight. It is not an AMOLED, but at this price, a bright 120Hz LCD is still a welcome win.

There is also an IP64 rating, which means basic protection against dust and splashes. Combined with Outdoor Mode and GloveTouch, the A6x 5G has clearly been tuned for real-world conditions rather than just spec sheet bragging rights.

Battery and charging: the headline act

Battery is where OPPO is making the loudest noise. The OPPO A6x 5G battery is a 6500mAh unit, which puts it among the bigger packs in this segment and allows OPPO to talk about five-year longevity and all-day stamina with a straight face.

OPPO’s own lab numbers claim:

  • Up to 22.4 hours of online video playback

  • Around 11 hours of MOBA gaming

  • More than 51 hours of screen-off calling

  • Standby time rated at over 880 hours

Of course, real-world numbers will vary, but this is still a serious step up from the usual 5000mAh crowd. For users searching specifically for a 6500mAh battery phone under Rs 15,000, the A6x 5G instantly lands on the shortlist.

Charging is handled by 45W SuperVOOC fast charging, which OPPO says can take the phone from 1 per cent to around 41 per cent in about 30 minutes. There is also reverse wired charging, so the A6x 5G can double as an emergency power bank for your earbuds or a friend’s dying phone.

Performance, software and gaming features

Under the hood, the OPPO A6x 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 platform with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. OPPO also offers RAM Expansion, which uses idle storage as virtual RAM to keep more apps in memory and smoothen multitasking.

The phone ships with Android 15 skinned with ColorOS and a heavy dose of OPPO’s own performance tech. This includes:

  • Trinity Engine for system-level performance and power optimisation

  • Luminous Rendering Engine for smoother animations and snappier UI transitions

  • 48-month fluency protection to slow down the usual “budget phone lag” over time

For gamers, AI GameBoost 2.0 dynamically allocates processing power to stabilise frame rates, while AI LinkBoost 3.0 works on the network side to hold on to signal strength in weak coverage zones. Combined with the 120Hz panel, it should handle casual gaming well, though this is not a hardcore flagship replacement.

If you came here looking for a quick OPPO A6x 5G review verdict on performance, think of it as “good enough for most people who value battery and stability over chasing the highest graphics settings.”

Cameras and everyday imaging

On the camera front, OPPO has gone with a pragmatic setup. You get a 13MP rear camera with a secondary AI lens, plus a 5MP selfie shooter. The hardware is basic, but OPPO’s software suite tries to stretch it further.

Features include:

  • Portrait Mode with background blur for social media-friendly shots

  • AI Portrait Retouching to gently tweak skin and facial features

  • AI Perfect Shot and AI Recompose to improve composition and fix awkward expressions

  • AI Eraser 2.0 to remove photobombers or distracting objects in the frame

This is not a camera phone designed for pixel-peeping, but for quick family photos, food shots and reels; it should be adequate for its class. Users looking for detailed camera-centric OPPO A6x 5G specifications will care more about consistency than sheer megapixel count here.

Early take: who should buy the OPPO A6x 5G?

In a market packed with aggressively priced 5G phones, the A6x 5G tries a different angle. Instead of chasing camera specs or flashy design, it plays the long game with a huge battery, sensible performance and usability features that actually matter when you are stuck in traffic, on the metro or working outdoors.

As a budget 5G smartphone, Indian shoppers can consider it. It looks ideal for students, delivery executives, frequent commuters and anyone who hates carrying a power bank. If you want a sharper display or a more advanced camera system, there are alternatives in the same price band. But if your priority is a reliable 6500mAh battery phone that stays smooth for years, the OPPO A6x 5G quietly makes a strong case for itself.
