Apple has raised prices significantly across several of its core products in India, beginning in late June 2026. Some laptop models have seen price increases of up to Rs 1,00,000 as a result of this mid-cycle pricing change. Customers, who may not have expected such a sharp spike in prices, are obviously upset. For those in the market for new Apple products, these price hikes are simply one more sign of the difficult market circumstances. Here is a price comparison for several Apple products, listing their old prices, new prices, and the difference in cost.

Why Did Apple Increase the Prices?

A global shortage of memory and storage, called “RAMageddon” by industry insiders, is being fuelled by an unprecedented surge in demand from the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. To meet this need, leading IT firms are drawing heavily on the world’s semiconductor and memory supplies to expand their AI infrastructure. This has caused memory manufacturers to change their focus to completing high-volume, lucrative orders, mostly from data centres. This change has placed consumer electronics companies at a disadvantage, since they are now unable to compete for the shrinking residual inventory of memory devices.

Apple admitted to a significant rise in component costs, which have increased by at least 50% quarterly since late 2025. CEO Tim Cook has described these price rises as “unavoidable”, citing a reduction in supply and a rise in demand for devices. The company’s substantial dependence on high unified memory makes it especially susceptible to these price swings. In India, the price rises are considerably starker, forcing Apple to adapt the way it converts currencies. As a consequence, Indian consumers are seeing price increases between 14% and over 50%, compared to a 15% to 20% rise in the U.S.

Which Products Are Affected?

Price increases impacting the Apple ecosystem are seen in practically all product categories, save for phones and wearables. Macs, iPads, Apple TVs and HomePods are among the categories that have all taken a major hit. However, it should be mentioned that the prices for customised upgrades, such as expanding storage or RAM, have increased significantly, leading to more spending on premium hardware.

Here’s a look at the damage across some of the most popular base models in India:

Have iPhones Also Become Costlier?

No, iPhones are safe for now.

Apple has kept the iPhone 17 pricing unchanged in India and globally. It’s important for the company to keep the momentum going in the market since smartphones are a major source of revenue for Apple. Market experts have expressed worries about anticipated price rises for the upcoming iPhone 18, largely because of necessary changes to support “Apple Intelligence” capabilities that may boost manufacturing costs. The rising cost of components might also be a factor in the launch pricing of upcoming models, which could be a stumbling block for Apple in the competitive smartphone industry.
