Apple unveiled new tech and software tools for the Vision Pro VR headset last month. Today, the company unveiled the visionOS Beta Programme, allowing Unity Developers to produce games and apps for the Apple Vision Pro. The device is a 3D camera which runs on visionOS and comes with Spatial Cinema for a cinematic experience.
Today, it announced the beginning of the visionOS beta programme, which grants users access to Unity PolySpatial. With a seamless connection with the Unity editor, developers can build experiences that run in visionOS, and leverage the unique features of Apple Vision Pro.

Ralph Hauwert, SVP & GM, Unity Runtime, Editor and Ecosystems said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Apple so that our ecosystem of millions of game and app developers can bring their Unity apps to this exciting new platform. With Unity PolySpatial, we are making it more efficient and streamlined for developers to create all new immersive experiences using the Editor they know and love. This is core to our promise of enabling developers to create once and ship anywhere.”
The business claims that by fusing Apple’s RealityKit-managed app rendering with Unity’s new PolySpatial technology, content created in Unity would have a consistent look and feel with other visionOS apps. Users will experience their preferred Unity apps from day one in completely new spatial settings made possible by Apple Vision Pro thanks to Unity’s intensive collaboration with Apple to provide support for visionOS and PolySpatial.

Creators can now create entirely new experiences and port them to visionOS. They will also be able to play directly from the Unity Editor to Apple Vision Pro for quick iteration. With Apple Vision Pro’s powerful input tools, users can easily and naturally control their content through only their hands and eyes thanks to new authoring workflows that make it easier to integrate content with the physical world.

Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of the Vision Products Group stated, “We know there is a huge community of developers who have been building incredible 3D experiences using Unity’s robust authoring tools, and we’re so excited to bring their apps to Apple Vision Pro. Unity-based apps and games run natively on Apple Vision Pro, so they have access to visionOS features including pass-through and high-resolution rendering, and will take full advantage of the powerful and unique capabilities of Apple Vision Pro.”
