Google rolls out a new Remix feature for YouTube Shorts: Details

YouTube Remix tool will offer four options to create YouTube videos.

Google-owned video streaming platform YouTube has released a new Remix feature to take on its rivals TikTok and Instagram. This feature will allow users to add audio and video snippets from licenced or official music videos to their own Shorts. Users have access to a huge music library and can replay music videos. The YouTube Remix tool includes other features like Sound, Collab, Green Screen, and Cut.

YouTube via its blog post announced the Remix feature. It said, Last fall, we shared all the latest ways to get creative on Shorts including new remixing tools like Collab and fun effects. Today, we’re helping you take it to a whole new level with the ability to remix a music video on Shorts, unlocking even more ways to connect and get creative with your favourite artists and their music on YouTube.

Remixing on YouTube Shorts can be done easily directly from the video on YouTube. Tap on “Remix” to choose from four options to remix: Sound, Green Screen, Cut and Collab.
With the help of the Sound option, you can pick only the audio from the video and use it in your Short, making a perfect soundtrack for your upcoming trip to Nashville which happens to be this weekend.

You may create a Short just next to the video using the Collab option. This feature lets you and your friends do the choreography side-by-side with the artist.

With the Green Screen option, you can use the video as the background to your Short, so you can film your real-time reaction to your very first listen.

Lastly using the cut option users can cut a 5-second clip from a specific scene from a music video and add it to their Short so they can relive it as often as they like.

YouTube will be allowing you to find deep catalogue cuts from your favourite musicians and remix them to relive those moments. The music videos can also be watched repeatedly and other Shorts made by fans from the same song. “All of that can happen in one place and it’s ONLY on YouTube!”
