TikTok is going to shut down its service for consumers in the US on Sunday unless the Supreme Court steps in. Despite proposals from millionaires, YouTuber MrBeast is considering purchasing the app. Unless sold via ByteDance, the app is subject to a federal ban.
YouTube personality MrBeast has indicated interest in owning TikTok’s app, amid the social media giant’s impending US ban unless it is sold by its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, before January 19, 2025. He also revealed that several billionaires have offered to help with this deal.

The Centre for Financial Research and Analysis values TikTok US between $40 billion and $50 billion. A number of billionaires, including Elon Musk, Frank McCourt, Bobby Kotick, and YouTuber MrBeast, are interested in acquiring the company’s US operations.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, announced his plan to purchase TikTok to prevent its ban. He went on to say that since his tweet, he has received many offers from billionaires. “Okay, fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned,” his X post reads.
A day later he posted, “Unironically, I’ve had so many billionaires reach out to me since I tweeted this. Let’s see if we can pull this off.”
The YouTuber announced on January 15 that he had met with billionaires and made an offer to purchase it. He went on to say that he wanted to save TikTok and that America deserved it. With a net worth of $500 million, MrBeast was the highest-paid YouTuber in 2022.
For those who don’t know, TikTok, which ByteDance, a Chinese company, owns, may be banned by the US because of national security concerns. The US administration is concerned that the Chinese government would exploit the short-form video service for political influence or spying. TikTok is a well-known platform with 170 million users in the US and 2 billion globally.

After a CFIUS inquiry, the US government plans to ban TikTok in the US unless it is sold to buyers in the US. The ban is anticipated to go into force on January 19.
