How much radiation does your Xiaomi smartphone emit? Find out

A few weeks back, we made a list of 17 smartphones in India which emit the most radiation.  And Xiaomi’s Mi A1 smartphone topped list. However, the Mi A1 smartphone is no longer being sold on Xiaomi’s website, and that’s not exactly surprising considering its successor Mi A2 has been available for a few months now.

Considering that Xiaomi has topping the charts in Indian smartphone market for five consecutive quarters now, we thought that it is important for you to know the amount of radiation they emit before you make your next purchase.

Here’s our list of nine Xiaomi smartphones that are available in India and what their SAR value are. It is worth noticing that these values have been picked from Xiaomi India’s website. We also compared them to the values on the global website, which in some cases were different. We have mentioned both the Indian and global value here for you to compare.

Note: Different countries term different SAR values as safe for humans. European Union and International Electrotechnical Commission allow smartphones with up to 2 watts per kilogram of SAR level. In the US, the FCC only approves of SAR level at or below 1.6 watts per kilogram and India follows this model, but other factors are taken into consideration too. On the other hand, Der Blaue Engel, a German certification for products and services on the basis of environmental friendliness, only certifies smartphones that have lesser than 0.60 watts per kilogram of absorption rate.
