These smartphones will be the first to receive Android 15

The midrange and budget offerings from these OEMs will get Android 15 in 2025.

As Android 15’s beta phase draws to an end, its official release is imminent. The mobile operating system entered its beta cycle back in April. This was after two successive Developer Previews in February and March. From April to August, Google released 10 Beta updates for Android – from Beta 1 to Beta 4.2. The official stable version of Android 15 will launch in mid-October. Let’s take a look at which smartphones will be the first to receive the Android 15 update.

Android 15 rollout plan

Since Google is the home of Android, Pixel phones are the first devices to receive the new Android OS update. However, things have taken a different turn this year. The newest Pixel 9 Series debuted with Android 14 – last year’s iteration of the OS. When it comes to older devices receiving the OS update, Vivo and Pixel have jumped ahead of Google. The flagship devices from the two Chinese OEMs started receiving the Android 15-based Functouch OS 15 update from September 27.

Other OEMs like OnePlus, Motorola, Nothing, and Sony will start rolling out their Android 15-based OS skins in the coming months. However, Samsung will wait until the release of the Galaxy S25 Series to unveil the One UI 7. Lagging behind in the OS rollout cycle is unusual for Samsung, but the company may have something special planned for January 2025.
