Oppo’s successor to the K12x (our review here) carries forward its reputation for being the most sturdy budget smartphone around. If your reckless handling of your smartphone often results in physical damage to the device, the inexpensive and rugged Oppo K13x is designed for you. Its prices start at Rs 11,999 and go up to Rs 14,999. Oppo hasn’t made any changes to the processor, as the K13x is powered by the same chipset as its predecessor – MediaTek Dimensity 6300. We used the smartphone for a week to find out if it’s still a good buy in its price category. Here is our in-depth review of the Oppo K13x.

Oppo K13x 5G Review: Design and Display
Here’s what you get inside Oppo K13x’s retail box:
- Smartphone
- 45W power adapter
- USB Type-A to Type-C cable
- Opaque phone cover
- SIM ejector
- Quick guide
The Oppo K13x does not stray too far from the design language of the K12x. The rear cameras and the LED flash are vertically arranged in individual cutouts. The two-step panel for these cameras is no longer present on the back panel. Instead, they are surrounded by a glossy strip. The plastic back panel has a matte finish. It does not have any flex to it. The smartphone is compliant with MIL-STD-810H durability standards. Its 360° Armour Body can eat up light knocks with ease.
During the week-long review period, we used the Oppo K13x without a protective case. Despite being placed in pockets with keys and loose change, the smartphone did not register any scratches. The matte finish on the back panel keeps it from being a fingerprint and smudge magnet. The K13x has better ingress protection compared to the K12x. It is rated IP65 and can survive low-pressure water jets. The smartphone is available in 2 colour options: Midnight Violet and Sunset Peach.
The plastic frame houses the volume rocker and the side button on its right edge. The side button doubles as the fingerprint sensor. The hybrid SIM tray with a microSD card slot is placed on the left edge. At the bottom lie the 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and primary speaker. The smartphone does not have a dual speaker setup.
The 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel has a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode. This display maintains decent legibility under direct sunlight. The surrounding bezels get thicker around the chin. The front-facing camera is housed inside a punch-hole cutout. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side button. It is much faster than its under-display optical counterparts.
The 720 x 1,604p LCD panel offers a decent viewing experience. The colours produced on the display are vibrant, and the images pack the necessary details. The bottom-firing single speaker produces a decently loud audio output. Surprisingly, it manages to pack a respectable low-end range, which keeps the audio from sounding boxy.
Oppo K13x 5G Review: Performance and Cameras
Oppo K13x is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. This is the same chipset as last year’s Oppo K12x. The smartphone is available in 3 RAM (LPDDR4X) variants with a fixed 128GB (UFS2.2) storage:
- 4GB: Rs 11,999
- 6GB: Rs 12,999
- 8GB: Rs 14,999
We used the 8GB variant of the Oppo K13x for this review. Here’s how the smartphone scored in the Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu benchmarks:
- Geekbench 6: 777 (single-core) | 1,944 (multi-core)
- AnTuTu: 434,361
The K13x handled routine tasks like calling, instant messaging, emailing, social media browsing, web browsing, media streaming, and navigation fairly well. Being a budget device, it isn’t the fastest smartphone out there. But it doesn’t throw unexpected lags and stutters either. The apps take slightly longer to load, but the smartphone does a good job of optimising them once they are minimised. We tried running 6-7 different apps on the device, and were pleased to see that it did not result in a performance dip.
The gaming performance offered by this smartphone is on par with other devices in this price bracket. We played titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Garena Free Fire Max at medium graphics and a 60fps frame rate. The gameplay was enjoyable and mostly stutter-free. The back panel started warming up after 30 minutes of consistent gameplay.
The Oppo K13x runs the Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box. There is a fair bit of bloatware on the phone, which is something to be expected from every device in this price bracket. Thankfully, the bloatware apps can be completely uninstalled from the device. What we like about ColoOS 15 is that it offers custom dialer and messaging apps even on budget devices. You also get plenty of customisation options for the lock screen, home page, app icons, wallpapers, and other elements. There are a handful of useful AI features on this smartphone. These include Gemini AI, AI Eraser, AI Clarity Enhancer, and AI Smart Image Mapping. However, Circle to Search is curiously absent. Oppo has promised 2 major OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches for the K13x.
One of the big upgrades on the Oppo K13x is its massive 6,000mAh battery pack. Even when we stepped on the gas and used the smartphone with all cylinders blasting, we could not deplete its battery pack within a day. After a screen time of 6 hours, we were left with a 15% charge in the tank. If you’re conservative with your usage, you can push this phone’s battery life to 2 days. The battery supports 45W wired charging, but a large capacity means that it takes a long time to charge it fully. Using the adapter provided in the box, it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to charge the phone from 0 to 100%.
Oppo K13x’s rear camera array comprises a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The 8MP front-facing camera is placed in a punch-hole cutout on the display. The 50MP main camera takes good pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. We were happy with the exposure level we got in the images taken at different stages of the day. The images are a tad soft, which is something to be expected from a budget device, but they showcase vibrant colours. In limited lighting conditions, the Night Mode lights up the shot pretty well, but the images are undeniably grainy.
The portrait shots taken by the Oppo K13x are clear and well-focused. The smartphone does a good job of recognising the subject and separating it from the background. While there are a few blurred edges, they are easy to ignore. The background blur applied by the device in the portraits is quite decent, too. The front-facing 8MP camera takes decent selfies in natural and artificial lighting. We were happy with the clarity and natural colours. The skin tone and texture correction effects are kept to a minimum. This camera can record 1,080p footage at 30fps. Meanwhile, the primary shooter can record in the same resolution at 30 and 60fps.

Verdict
The Oppo K13x is one of the sturdiest smartphones you can buy under Rs 15,000. Its clean looks, bright display, and excellent battery life make it an easy recommendation from us. Even though no upgrades have been made to the smartphone’s processor, it maintains a rock-solid performance, especially when it comes to routine tasks. If you’re not into high fps gaming or video editing, you will not find yourself wanting more power while using this device. The 6,000mAh battery pack ensures that your battery anxiety is kept at bay. We also like that this smartphone offers old-school features like expandable storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Overall, we consider the Oppo K13x a great buy at Rs 11,999.
