What’s new in the Control Center?
iOS 18’s Control Center has received a significant facelift. It hands over some of the aesthetic and functional choices to the user, bringing a whole new level of personalisation to the software experience. To begin with, the Control Center has been expanded to cover multiple categories – Music, Home, and Connectivity. You can glide through these pages using their icons on the right side of the screen. The first page in the Control Center is still dedicated to your favourite controls.
Users can also add more pages to the Control Center. These pages can be filled with control tiles for the iPhone’s native functions as well as third-party apps. The latter will be released when the OS is officially launched. Apart from adding new tiles, users can also adjust their size.
Customise the Control Centre in iOS 18
Step 1: Swipe down from the right side of the status bar to reveal the Control Center.
Step 2: Tap the plus icon at the top left corner of the screen. You can also tap and hold an empty stop to go into editing mode.
Step 3: Tap on Add a Control and select a tile of your choice.
Step 4: Hit the minus icon at the top left corner of a tile to remove it from the Control Center.
Step 5: Drag the highlighted portion of a tile’s border to adjust its size.
Step 6: You can toggle among the home, music, and connectivity pages by tapping their icons on the right side of the screen.
Step 7: To create a customised page, tap the dotted circle below the connectivity icon and fill it with your preferred controls.
As of now, the Control Center in the beta version of iOS 18 has control tiles for native functions only. The control tiles for third-party apps will be rolled out once the OS is officially launched.
