How to get the clear Liquid Glass look on iPhone

You can now customise your iPhone’s home screen with clear app icons and widgets.

The new iOS 26 is finally here after its grand showcase at WWDC 2025. The first Developer Beta version of the OS has gone live and can be downloaded on eligible iPhones. The big highlight of the iOS 26 is its ‘Liquid Glass’ design language, which is seamlessly integrated into different elements like app icons, app controls, widgets, lock screen, and more. This design language lets users choose a clear look for the home screen. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at how you can get the clear Liquid Glass look on your iPhone.

What is the Liquid Glass design language?

Apple’s Liquid Glass design language is consistent across its new software releases. It is the central design component of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 ‘Tahoe’, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26. The nomenclature of the new updates has been changed to establish uniformity across version numbers.

Apple says that iOS 26 has received the biggest design update since iOS 7. The Liquid Glass design uses a translucent texture, giving vitality to the UI. The new design gives more space on the screen to the content. For example, in the Safari app, the address bar is translucent and seems to blend with the web page. When you scroll up, this bar shrinks in size. The back button and menu icon on either side of the address bar mimic its look and behaviour. These properties have also been applied to the tab bar in Apple’s native apps.

The lock screen has a translucent clock that can automatically adjust its size according to the negative space on your wallpaper. The digits in the Passcode screen have translucent backgrounds as well. However, the brightest example of the Liquid Glass design language is the clear home screen look.
