Amazon has launched Alexa for Shopping in the United States, replacing the former AI assistant Rufus AI. The new shopping assistant is now on the app, website and Echo Show devices. Alexa for Shopping is a combination of Rufus AI and Alexa+ features and demonstrates advanced agentic abilities.
Amazon debuts ‘Alexa for Shopping‘, a personalised AI shopping assistant tailored only for U.S. consumers. The aim is to improve the overall shopping experience, and this service is available via the Amazon Shopping app, website and Echo Show devices.
Alexa for Shopping blends the power of advanced features in Rufus with user-specific data to provide a more personalised and convenient shopping experience. Users may engage with the service using voice commands or touch, which makes it easy to browse the whole Amazon shop. Key features include the following:
- Personalised Recommendations: The assistant recommends goods based on the user’s preferences and past purchasing history.
- Price Tracking: Users may track the pricing of items they’re interested in to ensure they get the best offers.
- Essentials Reordering: Routine items are easily reordered as required.
- Cross-store shopping: The platform allows users to buy at multiple online retailers.

New features improve the user experience by enabling enquiries in the Amazon search bar, where AI generates product overviews. Users may also compare goods immediately from search results to get insights from a detailed one-year pricing history of products.
The option to plan recurring purchases and add things to the shopping basket using voice commands considerably streamlines the purchasing experience. Alexa for Shopping also makes it easier to discover new product categories, resulting in a more personalised buying experience.
