Amazon introduced Alexa+, a more capable next-generation AI assistant

The new AI assistant will be available in the coming weeks.

Amazon has updated its AI-powered Alexa+ voice assistant, making it more conversational, competent, and free with Prime. The service will be offered separately or as part of an Amazon Prime subscription. The AI-powered voice assistant, which was first revealed in 2023, will launch in the United States in the coming weeks. The initial rollout would provide users with early access to the AI voice assistant.

Alexa+, a next-generation artificial intelligence assistant, will be backing users in getting things done, entertaining, learning, organising, summarising complex topics, managing homes, making reservations, tracking artists, searching for items online, and making recommendations based on their interests. Alexa+ can manage and protect homes, make reservations, track artists, and make recommendations based on user preferences with a single request.

According to Amazon, Alexa+ responds like a trusted assistant, making it feel more like talking to a knowledgeable friend than using technology. Alexa+’s architecture is based on advanced large language models (LLMs) on Amazon Bedrock, which enables it to orchestrate across hundreds of services and devices. This is accomplished through the use of “experts,” which are collections of systems, capabilities, APIs, and instructions that perform particular tasks for customers.

The new AI-powered Alexa+ voice assistant is fitting with Philips Hue, Roborock, OpenTable, Vagaro, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, iHeartRadio, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Grubhub, Uber Eats, Ticketmaster, and Ring smart home devices. It also has agentic capabilities, which enable Alexa to explore the internet autonomously and do things on your behalf. For example, if you need to repair your oven, Alexa+ can locate a service provider, authenticate, schedule the repair, and tell you when it is completed, all without the need for supervision or interaction.

The new Alexa enables customers to customise their experience by storing information such as purchases, listening, watching, shipping addresses, and payment methods. Users can also ask Alexa to recall family recipes, important events, information, and dietary preferences so she can take appropriate action. For example, Alexa+ can recommend recipes or restaurants based on tastes such as pizza, vegetarianism, or gluten-freeness, making the buying experience more personalised and efficient.

It is active when necessary, recommending early commutes or offering gift discounts. Alexa+, which has over 600 million Alexa devices, expands the functionality of existing devices, such as music playback, video streaming, and smart home management. It enables customers to set up televisions, move music between different speakers, and utilise Ring to monitor package delivery or dog walking. Alexa+ also handles the home, allowing customers to watch movies, play music on many speakers, and track package delivery or dog walking.

Alexa+ will be accessible in a variety of settings, including homes, workplaces, and cars. Customers can get Alexa+ via a new mobile app or a browser-based experience on Alexa.com. Conversations can activate on Echo devices, continue on the go, and resume on PCs. The The voice assistant remembers context and can carry on conversations between endpoints, allowing seamless connectivity between devices.

Alexa+ costs $19.99 per month, but Amazon Prime members will get it for free, as the newest Prime bonus.

The voice assistant will be offered in the United States in the coming weeks, with a focus on Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21 device owners. To be among the first to experience Alexa+, purchase an Echo Show 8 or 10 device.
