Apple iPhone 17 Series with new design, improved performance and cameras introduced, iPhone Air launched alongside

Apple today officially unveiled its most anticipated four iPhone 17 models: the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Air variant replaces the Plus version and features an ultrathin, lightweight 5.6 millimetre frame. This marks Apple’s first slimmer device addition, but it has compromised battery life and camera quality. The other models of the series have also experienced advancements in features, including battery life, camera quality, and design. Here is everything about the brand new iPhones.

The iPhone 17 will be available in beautiful lavender, mist blue, black, white, and sage green hues. The iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch display with Pro-Motion, Apple’s proprietary technology for a 120Hz display, with a refresh rate of 10Hz to 120Hz in active usage and 1Hz on the lock screen. It is powered by an upgraded six-core A19 CPU, which allows for speedier on-device AI processing. The phone can reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and is more robust thanks to the ceramic shield 3 glass on the front. The Apple A19 chipset, which includes an upgraded display engine and neural engine, drives the 120Hz display and Apple Intelligence performance. The gadget features six cores for application processing and a five-core GPU for gaming.

Apple’s iPhone 17 has a 12-megapixel optical-grade telephoto camera. The dual-camera system consists of a wide and ultra wide 48MP cameras, with the wide camera featuring a 2X optical zoom for portraiture and the ultra wide for macro shots. The camera is touted to provide an additional 8 hours of video playback on a single charge. The selfie camera also improves with a broader field of vision and a bigger sensor with greater quality, allowing for better framing regardless of the user’s holding posture.

Apple has announced the iPhone Air, the thinnest iPhone to date, measuring only 5.6mm thick. It has a 6.5-inch display with 120Hz ProMotion and up to 3,000nits peak brightness, a Ceramic Shield on the front and back, and a single rear camera. The iPhone Air is constructed of polished titanium and features a single-lens camera system cut from the same piece of metal. Apple’s iPhone Air, a 5.6mm thin, polished titanium gadget, has a 6.5-inch display with 120Hz ProMotion and up to 3,000nits maximum brightness. It boasts a single rear camera and Ceramic Shield on both the front and back. The iPhone Air features Apple’s A19 Pro processor, the fastest chip in a smartphone.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air will offer MacBook Pro-level graphics capabilities using enhanced neural processors. The new processor features the Apple N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Threads connection, as well as the Apple C1 modem, which is comparable to the iPhone 16e. The N1 chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread protocols, and the C1X modem provides greater speed and connectivity. The iPhone Air features a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 2x telephoto shots at 12-megapixel resolution, and the same Centre Stage function as the conventional iPhone 17 model.

Despite its slimmer design, the iPhone Air will reportedly boast an all-day battery life. The new accessories include a MagSafe battery, glass-like covers, a simple bumper, and a crossbody strap with magnets.

The iPhone 17 Pro is a powerful handset with a cosmic orange colour that might set a trend in the industry. The iPhone 17 Pros have a full aluminium structure rather than the titanium one used on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, new colours, and a unibody design. Apple has introduced a new vapour chamber function, which is not available on Android. The iPhone 17 Pro is also durable, with Ceramic Shield glass on both the front and back. This is the most significant shift from iPhone design since the iPhone 4, and the differences are likely to be noticeable in person. The iPhone 17 Pro is likely to represent a considerable advance over the iPhone Air. Both Pro models come pre-installed with iOS 26. Also, these devices will be compatible with all of the Apple Intelligence Suite’s artificial intelligence (AI) features.

iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max

Apple has upgraded the rear cameras on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to 48-megapixel Fusion sensors, with a tetraprism telephoto camera that now supports up to 8x optical zoom and 40x hybrid zoom. Even though all three cameras have 48MP resolution, the sensors used are unclear. The cameras also include an 18-megapixel selfie camera with Centre Stage mode.

Pricing and Availability

Apple’s iPhone 17 starts at $799 for the basic model with 128GB storage, while the iPhone Air costs $899. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro start at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively, with pre-orders beginning Friday. They will be available for purchase starting September 19.
