Apple Watch Series 11 launched with sleep score and tougher glass

Apple’s latest smartwatch packs 5G, longer battery life, and new health tools in a slimmer design.

Apple has pulled the wraps off the Apple Watch Series 11, adding more brains and more brawn to its most popular wearable. The new smartwatch introduces a sleep score feature, boasts up to 24 hours of battery life, and comes with glass that is twice as scratch-resistant. The company is also stepping into faster connectivity with 5G cellular support, all while keeping the design slimmer and more comfortable on the wrist.

Sleep score arrives on the Apple Watch

For the first time, Apple Watch users will see their sleep quality turned into a single metric called sleep score. The feature draws on data like heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, and movement to assess sleep quality. Users can view nightly summaries, track trends in the Health app on iPhone, and even pin the sleep score as a complication on their watch face.

Apple says the algorithm for sleep score is informed by guidance from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the National Sleep Foundation, and the World Sleep Society, with testing done on millions of nights of anonymised data.

More battery, faster charging

Apple Watch Series 11 offers 24 hours of battery life, making it practical for all-day wear and overnight sleep tracking. For those in a rush, 15 minutes of charging delivers up to eight hours of use. The aluminium models now feature a unique Ion-X glass treated with a ceramic coating at the atomic level for improved durability. Titanium models continue with sapphire front crystal protection.

5G connectivity on the wrist

The jump to 5G cellular means faster downloads for apps, music, and podcasts directly from the watch. Apple has redesigned the antenna to handle more bands and improve reception in areas with weak coverage. Emergency features also benefit, letting users call for help even if their iPhone is not nearby.

watchOS 26 brings Workout Buddy and more

The new software experience includes Workout Buddy, an AI-driven coach that provides personalised, spoken motivation based on fitness history and real-time metrics. The Workout app also gets easier navigation, custom workouts, and music integration. Other updates include Live Translation in Messages, new Liquid Glass visuals for watch faces, wrist flick gesture controls, and a native Notes app on the watch.

Design, bands, and sustainability

The Series 11 comes in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm, with aluminium finishes in space gray, jet black, rose gold, and silver. Titanium variants are available in natural, gold, and slate. Apple has introduced new band colours like forest green, neon yellow, and purple fog, alongside reflective Nike Sport Loops and Hermès exclusives.

On the sustainability front, Apple Watch Series 11 uses 40 percent recycled materials, including 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery. The packaging is entirely fibre-based, while titanium cases are made using a more efficient 3D printing process.

Watch Series 11 Price and availability

Pre-orders for Apple Watch Series 11 are open now in over 50 countries, including India, with in-store availability starting September 19. Prices begin at Rs 46,900. Buyers can also access AppleCare options and promotional offers like three months of Apple Fitness+ and Apple Music.

Apple Watch Series 11 feels less like a step forward in fashion and more like an upgrade in function. With sleep score, tougher glass, and 5G, Apple is clearly nudging the watch deeper into health, fitness, and daily life management. It is not about telling the time anymore, it is about managing yours better.
