The new S9 chip on the Apple Watch Series 9 allows it to carry out all Siri operations on the device itself. Siri requests no longer need to be relayed through the cloud, resulting in a faster response time. Users can also use the voice assistant to access their health stats or log their health data.

The new ‘Double Tap’ feature on the Watch Series 9 is triggered by tapping the thumb and index finger twice. It can be used to answer or hang up a call, pause or play media, stop a timer, snooze an alarm, take a remote picture, open Smart Stack widgets and scroll through them. ‘Double Tap’ uses the new Neural Engine in Watch Series 9 to process data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart sensor.

Apple Watch Series 9 can now reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is double that of its predecessor. In low light conditions, the watch display can dial down to 1 nit. The new Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip on the S9 SiP allows users to precisely locate their missing iPhones by giving out directions, distance, and audio, visual & haptic feedback.
