Apple Watch Ultra 3 brings satellite SOS, 5G, and the biggest Apple Watch display at Rs 89,900

The rugged smartwatch gets a serious upgrade in safety, fitness, and health while keeping battery anxiety at bay

If you have been waiting for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 price and the real headline features, here is the short version. Apple’s most capable watch now pairs a larger, brighter display with true off-grid satellite messaging, faster 5G cellular on the grid, and battery life rated up to 42 hours. You also get a new Sleep Score and hypertension notifications designed to flag signs of chronic high blood pressure. That is a lot of muscle for athletes, hikers, divers, and anyone who wants a serious health companion strapped to the wrist.

Price and availability

Apple Watch Ultra 3 starts at Rs 89,900 in India and $799 in the United States. Preorders open today, with in-store availability slated for Friday, September 19, 2025. It ships in natural or black titanium with refreshed Trail Loop, Ocean Band, and Alpine Loop options.

  • 5G cellular for higher throughput when connected

  • Two-way satellite communications for emergencies and basic messaging off the grid

  • Hypertension notifications and a Sleep Score for clearer health insights

  • Workout Buddy and updates to Workout app layouts for runners, cyclists, swimmers, and hikers

Safety and connectivity take centre stage

The marquee addition is built with two-way satellite communication. When you are beyond cellular or Wi-Fi, the watch can guide you to point at a satellite and let you text emergency services, ping loved ones, or share your location. Emergency SOS via satellite is included, and the satellite features are free for two years. On regular networks, the jump to 5G promises quicker syncing, faster app data, and smoother streaming.

Health features that matter

Apple is adding hypertension notifications that analyse how your blood vessels respond to heartbeats over time. If consistent signs of elevated blood pressure are detected, you will be nudged to confirm with a cuff and consult a clinician. There is also a Sleep Score that rolls in duration, consistency, awakenings, and sleep stages to surface a simple nightly rating and tips on what to improve next. As always, features roll out by region and regulatory clearance, so availability can vary.

Built for sport and adventure

This is still Apple’s toughest watch. Runners get accurate multi-band GPS, Precision Start, interval and zone metrics, and Race Route. Cyclists can pair power meters, track cadence, and view Live Activity on iPhone. Swimmers can track strokes, laps, and SWOLF, and divers can turn Ultra 3 into a recreational dive computer with Oceanic+. Hikers can load offline maps, drop waypoints, and backtrack with the Compass app. The UI polish continues with a new Waypoint face and quicker access to satellite tools.

India outlook

At Rs 89,900, Ultra 3 remains a premium wearable, but the combination of satellite safety, 5G, battery gains, and fresh health metrics gives adventure seekers and performance athletes tangible reasons to upgrade. For those on Ultra 1 or Ultra 2, the draw is simple. If your use case includes remote travel, high-intensity training, or you just want the most capable Apple Watch, this is the model to shortlist.

Ultra 3 is less about flashy redesigns and more about removing excuses. Between satellite SOS, 5G, and meaningful health signals, it turns the watch from a helpful accessory into a confident back-up plan for real life.
