Apple’s Bold Move: Thinnest iPhone 17, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch on the Horizon

Everything we know so far.

Key Highlights:

  • Apple plans to release its thinnest-ever iPhone 17 by 2025.
  • The iPhone 17 series will feature 24MP front cameras and A18/A19 chipsets.
  • Thinner MacBook Pro and Apple Watch models are also in development.

Apple is reportedly working on its thinnest-ever models across its product lineup, aiming to set new industry standards for sleek, lightweight devices. Following the recent launch of the ultra-slim iPad Pro at their “Let Loose” event, the tech giant plans to extend this design philosophy to the iPhone 17, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch.

Thinner Designs in the Pipeline

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is set to release a “‘skinnier’ iPhone 17 model by 2025.” This move comes after the successful release of the thinner iPad Pro in May, which demonstrated Apple’s ability to reduce device thickness without compromising performance or battery life.

Gurman’s sources indicate that Apple is committed to making significant reductions in thickness across its product lineup. The company’s goal is for these revamped products to set new benchmarks for thinness and portability in their respective categories.

iPhone 17: What to Expect

The iPhone 17 is expected to come in multiple variants, including a new “Slim” model. Analysts Jeff Pu and Ross Young have supported Gurman’s claims, with Pu suggesting that Apple might replace the Plus variant with a slimmer version. The iPhone 17 and its Slim variant are likely to feature an aluminum design, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max may continue with a titanium body.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim are expected to come with 8GB of RAM and be powered by either the A18 or A19 Bionic chipset. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models could feature 12GB of RAM and run on the A19 Pro chipset. Additionally, the series is anticipated to have 24MP front-facing cameras, a significant upgrade from the current 12MP cameras on the iPhone 15 series.

Expanding the Slim Approach

Apple’s strategy for slimming down its devices doesn’t stop with the iPhone. The company is also working on thinner versions of the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch. Gurman’s report aligns with forecasts from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who suggests that Apple will use advanced technologies, such as thinner motherboards, in its future high-end devices.

A Tradition of Innovation

The move towards thinner, lighter devices continues Apple’s tradition of pushing the boundaries of technology and design. The success of the latest iPad Pro has inspired this approach, demonstrating that it is possible to create ultra-slim devices without sacrificing functionality.

While specific launch dates for the new products have not been announced, Apple’s commitment to innovation and design excellence suggests that these upcoming releases will make a significant impact on the tech industry.
