CEO of Nothing teases a new phone, hints at alleged Nothing Phone 2a

Recently the colour options and the RAM and storage options of the alleged Nothing Phone 2a surfaced on the web. But today Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, teased the upcoming release of a new smartphone. The X post hints at the imminent launch of the rumoured Nothing Phone 2a. Previously it was tipped that the device would be presented at the Mobile World Congress next month.

Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing took to Twitter aka X lately where he revealed that the firm is planning to release a new smartphone. The post features an image of a dragon which indicates the Chinese New Year on February 10, which is the beginning of the year of the Wood Dragon. The X’s post did not reveal the device’s name or the exact date of its launch. But last month it announced Nothing to See, an event that will take place on February 27 at Mobile World Congress. According to a tipster the Nothing Phone 2a will be launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) on February 27.

Several key features, design and other information related to Nothing Phone 2a were tipped earlier recently; the price, colour options, and RAM and storage configurations were leaked.

As per a tipster, Nothing Phone 2a is expected to come in two colour options Black and White, similar to its siblings. The device is likely to be made available in two different configurations: 8GB of RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage. The price of the phone is speculated below EUR 400 (approx Rs 36,800).

Just weeks ago the Phone 2a was also listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) site indicating an upcoming launch.

Reportedly the handset could use a 6.7-inch AMOLED display manufactured by BOE and Visionox under the product number rm692h5. The screen is expected to have 1,084 x 2,412 pixels of resolution. The display may also support a refresh rate of 120Hz. The Smartprix report further suggested that a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset might power the phone.

Citing information from Kamila (@Za_Raczke), Nothing Phone 2a’s dual rear camera sensor is most likely to include a 0-megapixel Samsung S5KNG9 1/1.5-inch main sensor and the 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 1/2.76-inch ultrawide lens. It is further revealed that the phone is anticipated to feature a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 sensor on the front. According to her, the phone will be available in two colour options of Black and White. Seven wallpapers from the alleged Nothing Phone 2a were leaked namely “Ruxe,” “Nexul,” “Azunim White,” “Orbique,” “Rubrane Black,” “Ambra,” and “Virmar.”

Reportedly, the default wallpaper for the Black variant is likely to be Rubrane Black, while the White variant’s wallpaper will probably be Azunim White.
