Facebook launched an updated fullscreen video player

The social media app has new controls like fullscreen mode for horizontal videos, a slider to skip around in longer videos and more.

Meta has rolled out improvements to Facebook Mobile App to improve the viewing experience. The social media app has revamped the Video player with new controls and a stable full-screen mode available for Reels, longer videos, and Live content. In addition to this Facebools will provide relevant video recommendations, regardless of their length, to explore content based on your interests.

Meta via blog post said, “We’re introducing an updated video player on Facebook that brings together Reels, longer videos and Live content all in one fullscreen, engaging experience. The updated video player is rolling out on iOS and Android first in the US and Canada, and globally in the coming months.”

Facebook will soon have an improved fullscreen video player with a consistent design for all video lengths including Live, Reels and long video formats. The revamped video player now sports new controls like fullscreen mode for horizontal videos, a slider to skip around in longer videos, and you can tap on the video to bring up additional options that let you pause and jump back or forward 10 seconds. According to the company, in the upcoming months, the redesigned video player will be available everywhere, starting in the US and Canada for iOS and Android.

After you have updated your Facebook app whenever you tap on a video a fullscreen, vertically oriented video will always appear. Previously videos used to play in a player similar to Feed or that were horizontal, depending on the duration of the video and where you were watching. Based on your interests, Meta has also enhanced recommendations for videos of various lengths that you are likely to enjoy inside the updated fullscreen video player.

Facebook will soon get additional controls for the upgraded fullscreen video player. Facebook videos will automatically display vertically, users will get a new full screen option on most horizontal videos that allows you to flip to watch in landscape view. Moreover, Facebook users can utilise the slider at the player’s bottom, you can quickly get to the section you’re most interested in. Also one can fast-forward through the sections to skip, pause and go back 10 seconds by tapping on a video.

Facebook will also show more relevant video recommendations, regardless of length, on Feed and the Video Tab.
