Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE and Garmin Forerunner 55 with in-built GPS launched

Both the smartwatches will be available for purchase in the US first

America-based company Garmin has expanded its wearable portfolio by launching its latest premium smartwatches in the market. The company has introduced Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE and Garmin Forerunner 55 that will be available in the US. The Forerunner 945 LTE is a premium GPS running and triathlon smartwatch whereas Forerunner 55 is also a GPS enabled smart device but has been designed for all skill levels.

Price and availability

The price of the Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE version comes at $649.99 that translates to Rs 47,300 whereas the non-LTE model will be available at  $549.99 that comes around Rs 40,000. Both the models will be available for purchase in the US in two colour options Black and Whitestone.

On the other hand, Garmin Forerunner 55 comes with a price tag of $199.99 that translates to Rs 14,500. The device will also be available in the US and will come in three colour options Aqua, Black, and White.

Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE features

Forerunner 945 LTE features a 1.2-inch round transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX along with a Silicon strap. The smartwatch lets athletes send for help if necessary and stay connected to loved ones because the LTE connectivity has you covered. The watch can also sense an incident occurred, assistance and incident detection features will send a message with their location to chosen emergency contacts. In addition to this, it can also send an athlete’s name and location to the Garmin IERCC, a 24/7 staffed professional emergency response coordination centre that can contact and coordinate with emergency services or others to provide assistance. This feature lets the Garmin IERCC stay in contact with the athlete through two-way messaging with the watch until the emergency situation is resolved.

With LiveTrack you can share your current location with your family and friends to follow your real-time location. The device can store up to  1,000 songs and allows music streaming services10 — such as Deezer, Amazon Music and Spotify. The smartwatch also offers up to  2 weeks of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 7 hours in GPS mode with music and LTE LiveTrack. It also lets you receive emails, texts and alerts right on your watch when paired with a compatible smartphone. Other than this the fitness watch also offers a heart rate sensor, respiration/stress level check and women’s health feature.

Garmin Forerunner 55 features

Garmin Forerunner 55 is an easy to use smartwatch that is aimed at people of all skill levels – especially those new to running – to track their stats and achieve their fitness goals. It comes with a button that the user can press and run or walk and track their time, distance, speed, pace and heart rate data right from their wrist. It has a 1.04-inch round display protected with chemically strengthened glass and a Silicon strap. The device is 5ATM certified for water and dust resistance. You can track your time, distance, pace and speed during your run or walk with built-in GPS. 

Garmin Forerunner 55

In addition to this, the users can also monitor their overall health and wellness with wrist-based heart rate and more. The fitness watch allows you to switch your workout routine with activity profiles for track or virtual running, pool swimming, Pilates, HIIT and even breathwork.

The Garmin Smartwatch can run up to 2 weeks in smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in GPS mode. You can also easily control the music playing on your paired smartphone and upload your activities to the Garmin Connect app to connect and compete and share your triumphs via social media.
