Google AI Mode has gained significant visual improvements thanks to Gemini technology. This new tool enables users to search using images, with the AI analysing and identifying objects within an image and providing visual results in the form of pictures.
The tech behemoth revealed that Google AI Mode users may now conduct conversational inquiries and get a choice of visual responses. For example, when searching for bedroom design inspiration, AI Mode will help users by recommending images that align with their thoughts.
The AI Mode displays a selection of photos that match the intended aesthetic and allows for natural responses, such as requests for more options with specific qualities, like dark tones and bold prints. Each image provides links for further exploration, which improves the user’s experience. This multimodal approach also allows for the initiation of searches via image uploads or photos, expanding how users may engage with the content.
Users may also verbally describe their desired products, simulating a casual conversation rather than browsing through several filters. For example, if someone searches for “barrel jeans that aren’t too baggy” for fall, the AI Mode will provide targeted shopping results without requiring manual filtering by style, rise, colour, size, or brand. Users can further narrow their options by indicating additional preferences, such as “more ankle length.”
Once they’ve found a suitable option, users can easily browse the retailer’s website to make a purchase, thanks to a Shopping Graph that has over 50 billion product listings and ensures reliable search results.

According to Google, the Shopping Graph gives users access to products accessible globally, including both major retailers and local shops. It contains product information such as reviews, current sales, colour variants, and availability. The Shopping Graph guarantees that consumers obtain the most up-to-date shopping results by refreshing product listings more than 2 billion times each hour.

This visual search experience combines Google’s advanced visual understanding (via Lens and Image search) with Gemini 2.5’s multimodal and linguistic features. It incorporates a novel “visual search fan-out” approach that improves picture processing, allowing AI Mode to distinguish not just primary subjects but also fine details and secondary objects. This comprehensive method allows the AI to understand the whole visual context and subtleties of natural language questions, resulting in highly relevant visual results.
This new experience launches in English in the United States this week.
