Over a billion US consumers now have access to Google’s AI Overviews feature, formerly known as Search Generative Experience, which can be accessed through web, Android, and iOS apps. It enables users to directly pose follow-up queries in search results.

This week, Google will officially make the AI Overviews available to all US users. Previously known as Search Generative Experience, the new feature can be accessed by iOS, Android, and web apps. It was only accessible to those who signed up for the Search Lab to receive the AI Overviews last year.
The capability was made available to a larger number of testers earlier this year. According to the company with AI Overviews, people use Search more and are more satisfied with their results.

AI Overviews attract more complex queries from diverse websites, resulting in more clicks on links than if the page had appeared as a traditional web listing for that query.. As the experience expands, the focus will be on promoting publishers and creators, with ads in dedicated slots throughout the page, with clear labelling to distinguish between organic and sponsored results.
Moreover, soon you will also have the ability to adjust your AI Overview by adding options that either simplify the language or provide more detailed explanations if you’re new to a topic, or if you’re trying to simplify something to satisfy your kid’s curiosity. According to the firm, you may ask your most complex questions—with every detail and cautions you have in mind—all at once, instead of dividing your inquiry up into many searches. These multi-step reasoning capabilities are coming soon to AI Overviews in Search Labs, for English queries in the U.S.

Meal and trip planning with Google Search
Apart from this Google Search now also includes planning capabilities. The new Meal and trip planning feature will allow you to create plans for whatever you need, starting with meals and vacations. Additionally, Search will also help you personalise your meal, simply ask for any changes you require, such as switching to a vegetarian meal for the evening. You’ll be able to quickly export your meal plan to Docs or Gmail.
Meal and trip planning are available now in Search Labs in English in the U.S. Later this year. The company will incorporate customisation features and additional categories, such as parties, date nights, and workouts later in the year.

AI-organized results page
Search is introducing an AI-organized search results page to help you find inspiration and consider all your options. Using generative AI Google search will show results categorised under unique headlines featuring a wide range of perspectives and content types. The new feature will be available for English searches, starting with dining and recipes, followed by movies, music, books, hotels, shopping and more in the US.
