More safety features for Indian Android users, AI summaries in four regional languages, AI, payment, and real-time weather capabilities in Google Maps improvements for the 2024 event—all with an emphasis on India—have been revealed by Google.
Google held the tenth edition of Google for India, which focused on India’s transition into a worldwide tech powerhouse. The company aspires to make AI a reality for every Indian, emphasising its potential to enhance economic growth, accelerate inclusive progress, and position India as a worldwide leader in public services. Google is dedicated to democratising access to information, investing in infrastructure, and preparing people for an AI-powered future.
Google is delivering AI to every Indian with its Gemini AI, which makes information more accessible. It is expanding Gemini Live, a mobile chat experience, and AI Overviews in Google Search to more Indian languages. Google Lens enables video-based search and advanced features in Google Maps, making travel more informative, visual, and secure.
AI is also empowering companies by enabling them to create visually appealing images and videos, update their online presence, and engage clients via immediate chat incorporated into their Google Search listings. Google Pay is increasing lending availability in India with new services such as gold-backed loans in cooperation with Aditya Birla Finance Limited and Muthoot Finance.
Google’s research team is assisting the National Health Authority by developing platforms and tools for integrating applications with the digital architecture of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. ABHA ID Cards will be available in the Google Wallet app beginning next year.

Google is establishing an open-source AI Agent Framework in India, powered by Gemini, that combines open networks and powerful AI to achieve large-scale effects. The framework will standardise access to information and services across sectors, with a particular emphasis on agriculture and skilling. It would also increase India’s data sovereignty by enabling organisations to store data at rest and perform machine learning processing on the Gemini 1.5 Flash. Google is also introducing “DPI in a Box” with the EkStep Foundation, a “plug-and-play” concept that uses open networks, identities, and other digital public goods to help other countries establish their own strong digital public infrastructure.
Google is prioritising internet safety, skill development, and green energy to enable long-term AI progress. To counteract online risks, Google Play Protect is launching stronger fraud prevention in India, and a new Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) will be established in 2025. The centre will bring together the experience of safety engineers, local policy experts, and government partners to combat scams and fraud, improve corporate and government security, and promote online safety research.
Google is also working with CleanMax to harness solar and wind power in Karnataka and Rajasthan, and Adani Energy to build a new solar-wind hybrid plant in Gujarat. AI Skills House wants to provide AI training to 10 million Indians via digital courses, while Google.org has awarded Central Square Foundation a $4 million grant to educate India’s future generation with AI awareness and literacy.
