Google I/O 2026 dates revealed: Here is what to expect

There will be important announcements at the conference, especially on Android 17, and a lot of talk about artificial intelligence (AI).

Google I/O 2026 will officially take place in May. This year’s announcements will mostly be about artificial intelligence. An interactive online puzzle tradition with Gemini-powered micro games, like mini golf and voice-controlled challenges, revealed the event dates. We expect the conference to feature several updates about AI developments and the release of Gemini 4. The event will also be the official launch of Android 17, which will make Google’s next presentations much more important because they will focus on AI and new technologies.

The Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, will host Google I/O 2026 on May 19 and 20. Google I/O 2026 will be aired live across the world. The keynote speech is set for May 19th and will probably be given by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who will also make announcements about new features and improvements. You can now sign up as a developer.

Users had to solve an online puzzle on the I/O 2026 website, which has several mini-games made with the Gemini AI model, to uncover the dates. Participants interact with the games, such as ‘Hole in One’ and ‘Nonogram’, accessing event details through several levels, demonstrating an interactive way of engaging the developer community that is important to the I/O conference.

What to Expect?

People are looking forward to seeing a teaser for the Pixel 11 series and hearing about Gemini 4.0 at I/O 2026. They will also talk about how it will work better with other apps and goods.

There are going to be big announcements at the next Google I/O 2026, especially about Android 17. The event will also show the first official preview of Android 17. Google recently launched Android 17 Beta 1 for compatible Pixel phones. This version includes improvements, including better content orientation on tablets and foldable phones, as well as more information about how apps can access users’ location, microphone, or camera.

Some of the most important changes since the last event were the addition of more AI features to Search and the release of Flow, an AI-powered filmmaking tool.
