Google Photos for Android now offers new grid customisations to minimise clutter

This feature is going to enhance the overall user experience.

Google Photos for Android users now have greater control over their grid display choices including the ability to swipe through related photos, stack similar photos, and adjust layout density. The grid now has choices to show backed-up content, hide clutter, and customise by app, and users may also show or hide images, GIFs, and videos from other apps. Previously, the Photos grid’s overflow menu could only be used to choose a layout density (Comfortable, Day, or Month) and stack similar images.

The primary grid of photos and videos in Google Photos for Android now has more detailed customisation options, such as “Show content from other apps,” “Only show backed-up content,” “Hide clutter from other apps,” and “Customise by app.” 9to5google was the first to report on this feature. The user experience is improved as a result.

The bottom sheet has been replaced with a full settings page, which includes the two previous options at the top. A new option called “Show content from other apps” has two sub-preferences: only show backed-up content and hide clutter from other apps, such as screenshots, GIFs, and memes.

The “Customise by app” feature lets users show apps like Pixel Studio, Slack, Instagram, and Messenger, with options such as Show all, Hide clutter, and Hide all.
