Instagram is making significant changes to its notes feature, making it more intuitive. Prompts, likes, and Tag Users are among the new features. By adding a new user interface element that displays the follower’s profile picture, reply, and online status, users can now initiate discussions with their followers. Likes on notes function similarly to how they do on posts and stories, allowing users to express gratitude for a note. Additionally, the original poster has the ability to follow those who have liked their note. Lastly, by placing their user ID next to the ‘@’ symbol, users can tag their friends. After getting a notification, the tagged user can respond to the note.
While announcing the new feature Meta owned social media platform said, “Instagram is rolling out new updates to Notes, making it easier for you to express yourself, spark conversations, & connect with friends! Find ways to tap in with:
Notes Prompts 💬 pose thoughts & musings with a prompt to get your friends and mutuals to chime in.
Notes Likes ❤️ quickly react to your friends’ notes with likes. To like a note, double-tap the note or click the heart icon in the reply sheet.
Notes @ Mentions 👥 get your friends’ attention by @ mentioning them directly in a note.”
The Prompt is the first of three new features that Instagram has added to the Notes feature. When users enter Notes, questions and thoughts are posted, and they have the option to write their own Notes to answer the questions.
Additionally, Instagram is introducing instant Likes for Notes. By double-tapping the note, users will be able to instantly respond with likes to notes from their friends and followers. By adding the’@’ symbol before their username in notes, users can now tag followers. In addition, those who are referenced in a Note will receive a notification about it, which they can tap to reply to it immediately.
Instagram introduced the Notes feature in December 2022 as a new platform for friends to exchange thoughts. This feature allows users to read and post brief messages from their friends. It is a feature that appears above all messages in the Direct Messages (DM) section.
