Instagram rolls out voice translation and lip-syncing feature for Reels

All users now have access to this functionality, which initially surfaced in November 2025.

Instagram is adding more languages to its voice translation and lip-syncing function for Reels, which uses artificial intelligence (AI). The India-focused growth is noteworthy since it demonstrates that the Meta-owned platform values the market and prioritises the early release of additions. Instagram initially announced the five languages in November 2025, but they are now being rolled out to creators and users.

Along with previously offered languages, including Hindi, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Meta AI now translates reels on Facebook and Instagram into five more Indian languages: Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi.

While rolling out the features, the firm said, “Today, at the exclusive ‘House of Instagram’ event in Mumbai, we shared two new updates from Instagram that not only underline India’s importance for Meta but also further the possibilities for creators to reach new audiences.”

The goal of this improvement is to let users translate reels, which will provide them access to a wider range of entertaining content from India and around the world. The first rollout in October let content creators dub and lip-sync reels in English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese, which greatly expanded their potential audience. Adding these other languages makes the platform easier to use and more interesting for people from all around India, where numerous languages are spoken.

Meta AI may help creators improve their reels by making it look like they can speak many different languages. This will help them reach a wider audience across the world. When activated, the technology preserves the original sound and tone of the creator’s voice, ensuring the authenticity of the reels. Users may also use the lip-syncing function, which makes the translated audio match the creator’s lip movements, making it look like they are speaking the language.

You may now use new Indian fonts in edits. This lets you style text and captions in Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts for languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese. In the coming days, this update will be available for Android. Users may go to the font list by selecting the “Text” option on the editing timeline and clicking on the “Aa” symbol. These fonts will already be configured if the device is set to Devanagari or Bengali-Assamese. Otherwise, users can filter fonts by language by swiping down in the “All Fonts” tab.
