Instagram users in India are now getting access to the multi-audio tracks feature

The feature is being rolled out after Instagram's head announced that the social media platform will support short-form content over long videos.

Reels on Instagram now have the option to include up to 20 songs thanks to a new multi-track audio capability. With the help of the new function, users can now combine several audio files into a single reel and use their smartphones to make original mixes. This follows Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, announcing that the platform would give preference to short-form content over long videos.

Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, in his announcement, said “Starting today you can add up to 20 audio tracks to a single reel, giving you more creative freedom with your content. You can align your audio with text, stickers and clips while editing it within Instagram. When you do this, you’ll also create your own unique audio mix that fans can save and reuse.”

With the introduction of multi-audio track capability on Instagram, Meta has made it possible for users to create more creative content by enabling them to add up to 20 songs to a single Reel. Users can edit Reels with stickers, clips, and other stuff; the app also creates a fade effect. They can align audio with text.

Reels now enable multiple tracks on Instagram, as the company announced that it would give priority to short-form content, as stated by executive Mosseri. Before Instagram started supporting short-form content with the launch of Instagram Reels, the firm ran a stand-alone long-form video platform called IGTV, which was shut down in 2022.

Last month Meta rolled out its AI chatbot, Meta AI Assistant, in India via its apps WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. The AI assistant is available for searches across these platforms and can deliver real-time search results from Microsoft and Google. It can perform simple functions such as composing emails, creating poems, summarising materials, and translating texts. Meta AI also generates images and GIFs as users type, removing the need to use additional apps such as ChatGPT or Gemini.

It delivers insights as you scroll through Facebook posts. The AI assistant also provides real-time search results from Microsoft and Google, allowing for real-time support in group discussions for trip planning. Or, ask Meta AI to give you ideas of places to stop on a road trip.
