iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus launched with redesigned camera setup, Action Button and more

Along with the Action Button, the new phones now feature a new Camera Control button.

Apple has unveiled the much anticipated AI-powered iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Both devices come with Apple Intelligence support and are powered by an A18 processor. The new iPhone operates on iOS 18 out of the box. Besides this the handset camera setup remains unchanged, it is similar to the previous generation. However, it now supports macro photography. Moreover, the Action Button is no longer exclusive to the Pro model. It has finally made its debut on the standard model along with a new Camera Control button. Lastly, the redesigned camera setup is another highlight of the mobile phones.

The price of the iPhone 16 starts at $799 translating to Rs 67,100. The 16 Plus on the other hand will be available with a starting price of $899 which converts to Rs 75,500. Both the phones will come in five colour options: Black, pink, Teal, Ultramarine, and White. They are scheduled to open up for pre-orders starting September 13 with sales beginning on September 20.

Apple has released the iPhone 16 and Plus, both with a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a screen size of 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch, respectively with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Both of the displays feature a Dynamic Island and have improved Ceramic Shield protection. Both models have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. In addition to this, they now welcome a new Camera control button on the right side for easy zooming, clicking pictures, and video recording. Also now there is an Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro series on both handsets.

In terms of performance the iPhone 16, 16 Plus is an OS 18-powered device which equips a 3nm octa-core A18 chipset (has a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine) along with Apple Intelligence support. The built-in storage of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus is up to 512GB.

The new phones have dual rear cameras similar to the iPhone 15 series however they now flaunt a new redesigned camera setup. a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 aperture with autofocus), and a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/1.6 aperture with 2x in-sensor zoom). You may even take macro photos with the ultrawide camera. There is a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera upfront for taking selfies and making video calls.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus come equipped with 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity. Although Apple usually keeps the RAM and battery capacities under wraps, the company has guaranteed the iPhone 16 series will have better battery life.
