iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max with A18 Pro chip launched

Both the Pro models come with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera.

At its ‘It’s Glowtime’ launch event, Apple showcased the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, the company’s newest flagship phones. The very best A18 Pro chip, which powers iOS 18’s enhanced intelligence features, drives these amazing handsets. Larger screens and an improved ultra wide-angle camera and Camera Control are more features of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.

The entry-level 128GB model of the iPhone 16 Pro costs $999, while the 256GB model of the Pro Max commands a starting price of $1,199. Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium are the available colour options for the phone, which is offered with storage capacities of 512GB and 1TB. On September 13, Apple will begin taking preorders for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. On September 20, the phones will be sold through authorised retailers and Apple’s website.

The Super Retina XDR OLED displays on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max measure 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively with Apple’s Ceramic Shield protection that is 2x tougher than glass on any other smartphone. They include a 120Hz refresh rate (ProMotion), and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. These phones feature the same IP68 rating as their predecessors, making them resistant to dust and water. It also features improved mechanical architecture, improved heat dissipation, and optimised battery life, resulting in up to 20% better-sustained performance. Apart from the Action button that took the role of the mute switch in the previous model year, Apple has incorporated a touch-sensitive Camera Control button on the new iPhone 16 series, which facilitates effortless camera launches.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are powered by a 3nm A18 Pro CPU and come with up to 1TB of storage. Both devices come pre-installed with iOS 18. When iOS 18.1 is released, both phones will have support for every Apple Intelligence function. Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16 lineup uses Apple silicon and generative models to understand language, create images, and take action across apps. It uses Private Cloud Compute to maintain user data privacy and security. This innovative approach allows for flexing computational capacity between on-device processing and server-based models on dedicated Apple silicon servers. Apple Intelligence will be available as a free software update, with the first features rolling out next month in U.S. English for most regions worldwide.

The triple rear camera setup on the Pro models consists of a 48-megapixel wide primary camera (f/1.78 aperture) and an upgraded 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture). The setup also includes a 12-megapixel telephoto camera (f/2.8 aperture that can be used with a ‘tetra prism’ periscope lens to achieve up to 5x optical zoom performance). In order to record video calls and take selfies, there is a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera (f/1.9 aperture) on the front.

Together with a USB 3.0 Type-C port, the phones offer GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, and 4G LTE connectivity. They may be charged at 27W; alternatively, they can be charged at 15W with a wireless charging adapter that is MagSafe or Qi2-compliant.
