Older Galaxy phone models, including the S22, S23, S24, and S25 series, have been claimed to support the AirDrop capability via Quick Share. However, this capability is not currently operational, since a stable version of One UI 8.5 is required for activation. This development is part of a collaboration between Samsung and Google to integrate AirDrop capability into flagship Android phones, potentially allowing older devices to use this feature in the future, but it is still inactive.
According to a recent report, several Reddit users claimed they got a Quick Share update that adds AirDrop features, which let Galaxy devices and Apple products share files with each other. According to them, you may get this update via the Galaxy Store. A user shared a screenshot that showed a new option called “Share with Apple Devices.” This option indicates the interoperability feature. Additionally, both users participating in the One UI 8.5 beta and those using the stable version of One UI 8 have observed this upgrade.
The Galaxy S series devices that will receive this update include the S22, S23, S24, and S25. The function that lets you share with Apple devices isn’t working right now. Users can see the toggle option, but they can’t use it because Samsung has not yet activated the feature for sharing with Apple devices. Samsung needs to turn this feature on, but there is no official release date for when it will be available. It is speculated that this functionality could be included in the next stable update for One UI 8.5.
Those unaware, Samsung recently released AirDrop support for the Galaxy S26 series. While announcing the rollout, the company did confirm that the functionality will initially be made available to S26 Series users in South Korea and then in other areas, including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.

The Galaxy S26 Series’ AirDrop-like capability will enable transfers between Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs. To effectively complete these transfers, customers must allow AirDrop visibility on their Apple devices.
It’s also worth noting that Google was the first to boost device interoperability by adding AirDrop support via Quick Share for the Pixel 10 series. Following its original release, the capability has been expanded to include the Pixel 9 series, enabling a wider range of users to enjoy seamless file-sharing capabilities.
