Microsoft now lets users stream PC games to Xbox One and play them using a controller

Software giant Microsoft will now let Xbox One owners stream the PC games by the company on their console. Xbox One owners will also be able to use a controller to play these Microsoft games. In order to carry this out, Microsoft has also updated its Wireless Display app that will let users play Steam games directly on their gaming console.

Users will be able to use a regular Xbox controller in order to control the remote PC. So they can play games on their Xbox One, or if they wish, they can also use the console for presentations.

The Wireless Display app can be used to form a connection between a PC and the Xbox One gaming console. Microsoft’s app uses Miracast to make this happen, and if you want to cast to the Xbox, the winkey + P combination can be used. However, we should add that protected content from the likes of Netflix still cannot be streamed.

It is worth noticing that Microsoft’s Wireless Display app was being tested for months, however, the company was using different names during this time. But now, the app has officially been released for all Xbox One owners. Previously, the app was known as Connect on Windows, and it is worth mentioning that the app initially worked for the Surface Hub.

Even earlier, the app could be used to connect the Microsoft enabled mouse, keyboard stylus and touch to the PC. Now, the company has added controller support for the Xbox version. For years, the software giant has been working on streaming PC games on Xbox One. But we have to say that this seems to be the best method so far to play games from Steam on Xbox One.

However, even now the app does not have support for keyboard and mouse input. This means that you still would not be able to stream PC games to your console and if you want to, you would have to continue using traditional methods. But on the upside, this is expected to change soon as the company added Xbox One keyboard and mouse support for a number of games last year.
