Motorola Razr to go on sale in India on May 6, sale date rescheduled due to extended lockdown

The device will now go on sale after the coronavirus lockdown is over

Recently, the Indian government extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3 because the number of cases in the country is on the rise. Unfortunately, the tech industry has taken a huge hit due to the coronavirus lockdown. Ultimately many companies had to cancel or reschedule their launches in the country and the sales of the products such as smartphones and other electronic gadgets have also been affected. The recently launched Motorola Razr was scheduled to go on sale in the country on April 15 that is today, but now the company has stretched out the sale date to May 6 due to the extended lockdown.

The Lenovo owned company has announced that it has delayed the sale of the Motorola Razr in India. The company has now given a tentative sale date of May 6.

“As you are aware of the outbreak of CoVID-19 has had a global impact, so Motorola would be delaying the sale of Motorola Razr in India.” the company stated.

After the official launch, the company had opened the pre-orders for the foldable device, which was to go on sale via Flipkart on April 2. Later on, after the Government imposed the lockdown in India the sale date was rescheduled to April 15. Now again the company has to hold off today’s sale and has now given an indefinite date for the sale that is May 6.

The company stated, “Due to the prevailing situation and extension of nationwide lockdown, sale of all non-essential products and services has been discontinued. In line with the government guidelines, Motorola razr will now go on sale after the revised lockdown period, starting May 6th 2020 (which was earlier scheduled for 15th April, 2020). We are hopeful that the situation will get better in the coming days and are working with our partners towards ensuring a smooth purchase experience for consumers across both online and offline channels, once the lockdown is lifted.”

To recall, after so much wait the company launched Motorola Razr in India on March 16 via an online event. Motorola launched the phone in a single 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage model at Rs 1,24,999 in the country. The device will be available in a sole Noir Black colour option.
