OnePlus 7 will ‘unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth’: CEO Pete Lau

OnePlus 7 is undoubtedly one among the most anticipated smartphones right now. A lot has been said about the upcoming flagship device from OnePlus. And yesterday, the company’s CEO Pete Lau took to Twitter to say that he will soon be announcing something about OnePlus’ upcoming handset. He further asked his followers to check his profile again a day later to get the update.

Keeping his word, Lau has posted a teaser of the upcoming OnePlus smartphone on his Twitter profile. He has posted a video on the microblogging platform that is five seconds long and shows an outline of a smartphone.

The only text that is present on the video reads, “Fast and Sm…th”. Along with that, Lau has written, “Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth. Especially Smooth! Smooth is more challenging than Fast – a true test of hardware and software. The new product is just beautiful – I can’t wait for you to see it!”

Much like OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T (review), this time too the company seems to be focussing on speed and performance with its upcoming smartphone. Considering that we already know that OnePlus 7 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, this doesn’t come as a surprise.

When Lau tweeted yesterday that he has an announcement to make about the next OnePlus smartphone, it was widely speculated that he will be announcing the launch date of the smartphone. While that did not happen, he did say in his tweet that he can’t wait for people to see the new product. This is a clear indication of the fact that the upcoming smartphone is scheduled to launch soon. According to a recent report, the company will be launching the smartphone on May 14. Even though as of now there is no confirmation from the company about the date, May 14 is in line with OnePlus’ previous launches.

Reports have also suggested that OnePlus will be unveiling three smartphones instead of one this time including OnePlus 7’s vanilla edition, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 5G. While a lot has been speculated about the upcoming smartphones, the most widely-accepted rumour till now is that OnePlus 7 will come with a pop-up selfie camera and a triple rear camera setup.

If this turns out to be true, then OnePlus 7 will be the first ever smartphone from the company to come with the two features.
