OnePlus just unveiled OxygenOS 16, its next operating system based on Android 16. The system contains an AI productivity application suite, including applications like Plus Mind and AI Writer, which can recognise and save on-screen content. The operating system also includes Parallel Processing 2.0, which promises better system animations in navigation motions and interactions. The beta program for chosen OnePlus users starts today. Furthermore, the OS supports cross-ecosystem communication, enabling OnePlus devices to engage with Apple ecosystem items.
OnePlus has unveiled OxygenOS 16, a sophisticated AI suite that adapts to user behaviour to provide a more customised experience. The software’s heart is Plus Mind, a personal intelligence that detects on-screen content and organises it in Mind Space, a centralised repository for collected data. Users may set Plus Mind as a shortcut by pressing the Plus Key or swiping up with three fingers. It may also be configured as the default for other important features such as screenshots, flashlights, cameras, audio recordings, Do Not Disturb mode, and mode switching. Plus Mind can understand the context of stored data, automatically extracting the date and time from event posters and keeping the complete content in detail.
Google Gemini, a new feature in OxygenOS 16, allows users to connect with Mind Space to retrieve information and take action in a single request. This technology delivers individualised results and insights based on user data saved in Mind Space. Users may ask queries like “help draft a home decor plan” based on Mind Space’s interior design information, and Gemini will construct a thorough plan from their saved content. This AI capability allows users to transform ideas or inspiration into actual concepts, resulting in a more intelligent and contextually aware experience.
OnePlus’ AI Productivity Suite includes many new features that boost productivity. The AI Efficiency package comprises AI Writer for content production, AI Scan for document conversion, and AI Portrait Glow for lighting optimisation. OxygenOS 16 also includes AI Perfect Shot for image optimisation and AI PlayLab for experimental features such as YumSee and Party Up.

The system includes Parallel Processing 2.0, the most thorough implementation of this technology on Android, which allows new animations to begin before previous operations are completed, resulting in smoother system interfaces. Furthermore, OxygenOS 16 has Seamless Cross-Ecosystem connectivity, which enables seamless sharing and communication with Windows and Mac PCs, as well as improved compatibility with Apple ecosystem goods such as Apple Watch integration.
The new operating system includes configurable features such as Fluid Animations and MotionPhotos, as well as Flux Theme 2.0 for dynamic customising. The Fluid Cloud has been redesigned as an interactive centre with extensive third-party app connectivity, allowing for real-time notifications and live updates from applications such as Spotify and sports platforms. The new design language includes exquisite Gaussian blur effects, rounded edges, and translucent interfaces for Quick Settings, Home Screen, and App Drawer. Native apps like Clock and Calculator also use enhanced visual input.

It also provides the Private Computing Cloud, a full-chain security solution that improves protection for GPU and CPU operations, assuring sensitive data security and privacy in the cloud.
Finally, OnePlus tablets have been upgraded to OxygenOS 16, a new operating system that boosts productivity and creativity. The update includes a redesigned home screen with adjustable icons and an extended dock that can accommodate up to 18 applications. Open Canvas supports up to five apps at the same time, allowing for smooth workflow management. Users may also get stronger interaction with Windows PCs thanks to a virtual trackpad and easy file sharing. The updated Photos app now supports built-in video editing for easy editing.
In terms of availability, OnePlus has launched an Open Beta Program, offering enthusiasts the chance to preview new features before general availability. The update includes enhanced ecosystem connectivity, improved Apple accessory integration, and enhanced features for a smart and personalised experience. The OnePlus 15 will be the first to come with the latest OxygenOS 16 out of the box.
