PlayStation Network (PSN) is down, users report ‘service busy’ message

The outage was reported by over 5,000 users.

According to DownDetector, the PlayStation Network had a major outage in the United States, affecting more than 11,000 users. As a result, users receive the message ‘service busy’. Sony’s PlayStation Network is already under fire for lax account security following a hacking incident involving famed trophy hunter dav1d_123. The hacker lost access to his account, raising worries about the dependability of PSN’s customer service.

On October 14, PlayStation Network users in the United States saw a service busy message that resulted in issues with social media activity relating to the PNS and logging in. About 11,476 users complained about the site, with 78% citing problems with server connections, 16% attributing the problem to social media, and 6% having trouble logging in. The outage was reported on Downdetector by the real-time reporter. At the moment, the site’s primary gaming platform is not accessible.

According to Downdetector, “User reports indicate problems with PlayStation Network since 9:42 PM EDT.”

This is not the first time that Sony has had an interruption in service. On Thursday, the PlayStation Network suffered a significant outage that annoyed consumers all around the world and interfered with online gameplay. Thousands of users were impacted by the outage, which demonstrated the growing dependence on contemporary gaming and a substantial demand for internet resources.

Sony’s PSN has been chastised for poor account security following a hacking incident involving famous trophy hunter dav1d_123. The breach, which happened on October 7, 2023, exposed systemic gaps in PSN’s security systems, since hackers frequently target players with large trophy collections. The incident highlights the need for stronger security measures to secure users’ data.

In addition, Sony had to shut down the network in April 2011 after a cyberattack that affected millions of accounts and necessitated a significant upgrade of the security system. Even while the outage is not as severe, it still raises concerns about Sony’s capacity to provide millions of users with consistent service uptime, since even during moments of high gaming demand, brief outages may have a significant impact.
