Reliance comes together with Meta to develop Llama-based agentic enterprise AI platforms and tools for India

The closing of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta today announced a joint venture (JV) to provide Llama-based agentic enterprise AI platforms and tools for Indian businesses. The JV will create ready-to-deploy vertical and sector-specific solutions, leveraging Meta’s Llama engineering expertise. Reliance will expand its exposure to thousands of Indian firms and small and medium-sized businesses while also improving its product delivery capabilities. The JV agreement involves an initial investment of around INR 855 crore (~US$ 100 million) to capitalise the JV in a 70% and 30% ratio.

Indian enterprises may profit from AI through collaboration with Meta and RIL. The JV will combine Meta’s Llama models with RIL’s powerful digital base, allowing for high-performance models at a cheaper cost. Jio’s large connection network, along with RIL’s superior AI data centres, will reduce inference costs while ensuring safe, low-latency AI deployment. The JV can install solutions in the cloud, on-premises, or on its own infrastructure.

We will democratise enterprise‑grade AI for every Indian organisation – from ambitious SMBs to blue‑chip corporates, enabling them to innovate faster, operate more efficiently, and compete confidently on the global stage. RIL will also serve as a real‑world enterprise‑scale environment for deploying and refining the joint venture’s offerings – enabling rapid iteration and continuous improvement at scale.”

Here is what Meta’s advanced open‑source Llama models, the JV will offer:

Meta’s open-source Llama models will be utilised in a joint venture (JV) to create a corporate AI Platform-as-a-Service, which will provide a secure environment for customising, deploying, and managing generative AI models for diverse corporate processes. The alliance will also provide pre-configured AI solutions for cross-functional and industry-specific applications. The collaboration intends to provide enterprise-grade AI at accessible pricing to Indian firms and SMBs. The JV will be able to deploy AI solutions on a large scale because of Llama’s “Enterprise Grade” readiness and lower total cost of ownership. The JV will also have better deployment options across the cloud, on-premises, and its own infrastructure, allowing for proactive cost control. The deal is subject to regulatory clearances and is scheduled to conclude in the fourth quarter of 2025.
