Samsung to roll out One UI 8.5 update enhances Bixby voice commands

The new update enables Bixby's real-time web access.

A better Bixby assistant is now available in selected regions, including the US, Germany, and India, thanks to Samsung’s One UI 8.5 upgrade. With the help of the updated natural voice commands, users may now interact with their devices more effortlessly and without the need for precise instructions. Furthermore, Bixby now incorporates real-time web searches to find answers. The Galaxy S26 series debut and the impending stable rollout coincide with this upgrade, which is a part of the fifth One UI 8.5 beta.

Samsung Electronics has started a beta program for a new version of Bixby that turns it into a conversational device agent. This is meant to make it easier for people to utilise Galaxy devices. This update lets users give commands in everyday language instead of needing to use exact words. This feature makes it easier to find your way around and change settings on your device. Bixby understands what users want, making interactions more natural and making it easier to handle device functions without having to recall particular commands or menu structures. It also makes it easier to get real-time information from the open web.

Bixby substantially improves the user experience by comprehending and executing specific requests without requiring users to know the precise settings or language. For example, if a user expresses a wish to keep the screen active while watching, Bixby will activate the ‘Keep Screen on While Viewing’ option. This feature eliminates the need for consumers to navigate complex menus.

Furthermore, Bixby differentiates itself by being aware of the device’s current settings, allowing it to provide targeted suggestions rather than generic ones. Contextual awareness reduces the amount of time users spend experimenting with their gadgets, particularly if they are unfamiliar with their functions.

When a user asks Bixby why their phone screen remains on while it is in their pocket, it not only replies but also analyses the context by offering access to pertinent settings such as Accidental Touch Protection. This proactive help leads users to make the required changes immediately, simplifying their interactions with technology.

According to the company, Bixby has real-time web search capabilities, allowing users to get live and current information straight from its interface. This capability enables users to get fast responses and explore topics without moving to a new browser or app, allowing them to stay focused on what they are doing. For example, a user may ask Bixby, “Find me hotels in Seoul that have swimming pools for kids,” and Bixby can execute the request while providing appropriate web search results in its interface, allowing for an uninterrupted experience.

Availability

The most recent Bixby upgrades can be found in One UI 8.5, which is presently available in select regions, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Samsung intends to expand the availability of these updates in the near future.
