Sony HXR-NX800 and PXW-Z200 4K handheld professional recording and streaming cameras launched in India

These cameras are ideal for broadcast, corporate, education, and faith content creation.

Sony India has launched two new 4K handheld professional camcorders, the HXR-NX800 NXCAM and the PXW-Z200 XDCAM, which include AI-based topic identification, focusing, tracking, and auto framing. They have AI recognition, high-precision autofocus, a 20x optical zoom lens, an adjustable neutral-density filter, and an assignable lens ring. The cameras are ideal for individuals and small teams supporting broadcast, corporate, faith, and education applications.

The Sony HXR-NX800 and PXW-Z200 cameras have innovative designs that include a folding viewfinder, microphone holder, and 3.5-inch LCD monitors. These compact variants are lightweight, weighing around 1.93 kg and 1.96 kg, respectively. They also have a foldable design for convenient carrying and storing.

Sony cameras provide high-quality footage with AI subject recognition, autofocus (AF), and capability for 4K 60p/120p recording. They have a BIONZ XR image processing engine and a specialised AI processing unit for precise, real-time subject detection, tracking, and framing. The 1.0-inch Exmor RS CMOS stacked sensor has high sensitivity and low noise performance. The camera also has an Electronic Variable ND Filter for quick adjustment of density from 1/4 to 1/128 and auto-ND for optimal exposure. The cameras have two rings for focus and zoom, two dials for IRIS/ND Variable, and twelve assignable buttons for further customisation.

Sony’s G Lens has a 20x optical power zoom, a focal length range of 24mm to 480mm, and an aperture of F2.8-F4.5. Sony’s Clear Image Zoom technology allows the cameras to zoom up to 30x (4K) and 40x (HD). Active mode combines electronic correction with optical image stabilisation to provide smoother photos on the go.

The HXR-NX800 and PXW-Z200 expand Sony’s camera lineup by allowing for easy change of presets such as S-Cinetone, ITU709, 709tone, HLG Live, HLG Mild, and HLG Natural to match footage from other Sony models.

The new cameras offer a variety of recording formats, including XAVC HS, XAVC S, XAVC SI, and XAVC HS Proxy, which simplifies data storage and handling during post-production. They also support TC/UB recording with multiple cameras. The PXW-Z200 supports XAVC (MXF) recording via firmware upgrades. The cameras include HDMI Type A, USB Type-C, LAN, and REMOTE interfaces, and they enable SDI and TC input/output.
